Alan provided my father with many years of sound advice that demonstrated his excellent knowledge, ability to understand individual needs and easy going manner. He was able to help both after my father's death and then that of my mother. It was the latter case that especially required me to seek Alan's advice on my own behalf.

After both my parent's deaths he was on hand to provide much needed assistance. He helped me plan how to invest their estates, including offering advice to both my children who we wanted to receive some of the inheritance.

Alan makes sure that our investments are properly weighted to give us "some" growth but without too much risk to our capital sums as we requested. On the odd occasion when he has been unavailable, Scott has stepped in to answer. Alan always has an up to date assessment of our position at his fingertips.

The outcome has surpassed my original expectations. Thanks to a number of factors not least of which was the excellent performance of my investment portfolio. Alan advised in its investment for capital gain in the early years and then managed a smooth and gradual move towards more conservative investments as I neared my retirement goal. I retired at the age of 51 and now15 years on I am still delighted with the Income I receive from the portfolio and its overall performance.

It is difficult to say what he could have done better. Perhaps we could have invested more of my funds earlier but I think that says more about me being cautious in involving a new adviser in my affairs than anything Alan could have done.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?
I had invesments in stocks & shares & various ISAs & felt that I needed advice going forward to safeguard the value of my investments & to enhance it without taking too much risk. It also gave my wife a feeling of security should anything happen to me.

After discussions to find out our attitude yo risk, Alan has, over the past twenty years, had a home meeting annually with my wife & I,when we have discussed results & policy going forward & he a has also been available on a daily basis to discuss worries in the interim. Alan also gave me pension advice that has also worked out very well.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
His advice has meant that our investments have increased over the past twenty years at low risk in advance of inflation. despite taking an income. As instructed.
What could they have done better?
Because Alan has made himself so available, I honestly cannot think of any way things could have gone better, without the benefit of hindsight.

Had always been told by my father to seek specialist advice on all matters financial. From a very early age, 18 I took his advice and have never looked back
