I required some advise on how best to utilise my income, while building up a short, medium and long term savings portfolio. My goal was to have a safety net should a rainy day arrive, but also build up a pot of money that I would use for significant life events such as buying a house, or other big purchases. Firstly Bharat explained how much tax our trustees would need to pay if we did nothing and then showed us what we could do to vastly reduce our liability.

There isn't any thing that we would have wanted Bharat to do differently. He explained everything, going over things to make sure we understood. It was a natural succession. Was looking for some guidance and expertise and in general just some direction and clarity of thought which I felt I received when I got talking with Bharat.

As I neared retirement, I was acutely conscious about my lack of planning for inheritance tax. I wanted someone knowledgeable to help me through this process.

How has Bharat Chudasama helped you?

Bharat captured my existing financial / investment strategy very well and he then went away to investigate several options. He provided me with regular updates via email, texts and phone calls before he finally narrowed my options to two (very similar) products but having different implications on inheritance tax. Bharat was very patient and did his best to answer all my questions and then checking back to ensure that I understood it correctly. Choosing the product was a very critical step for me but I did not feel pressurized in anyway to make a quick decision. After almost six months, I (finally) followed through his recommendation and have NOW made a long term investment which will reduce IHT liability.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, I have now seen the outcome and am extremely pleased with his recommendation.

What could they have done better?

After I retired from work I had a small pot of money I wanted to invest.

Bharat assessed my post -retirement needs based on a careful evaluation of my assets, income, outgoings and lifestyle and advised me to set up a Selective Bond portfolio to help reduce future inheritance tax payments. He has a very clear and articulate way of explaining financial matters that I appreciated and I agreed to go ahead with this investment.

A need to reduce the IHT that would be paid to HMRC which would be nil if it were a level playing field for all. We have no children and therefore suffer a an inequitable and unfair reduced IHT threshold.

I required independent financial advice regarding pension planning for the various pension schemes from current/previous employers. My objectives were to optimise my pension income during retirement and to provide financial flexibility in order to accommodate the potential care needs due to my progressively declining health condition.

We had a number of meetings over several months, during which Bharat thoroughly investigated our finances, objectives and plans and assessed our attitude to risk. We were pleased with the thoroughness with which this review was conducted and the attention to detail at each stage. This provider offered better returns, at an acceptable level of risk, and facilities for the flexible draw-down of funds if required. Bharat Chudasama has been our financial adviser now for more than 5 years. When I retired, my teacher pension included a significant lump sum which we needed to invest. We also needed general advise about how we should best manage our financial planning for retirement. Then my mother died some three years ago leaving us a large inheritance which we needed to invest and manage properly, while still being accessible if needed.

How has Bharat Chudasama helped you?

Bharat explored our relevant personal circumstances in detail. He explained the various options that are available in making investments, placing particular emphasis on our perceptions of risk in constructing our personal portfolios. He presented us with an investment plan that fully met our expectations, and this was linked to the use of Stocks and Shares ISAS to make these investments tax efficient. He further guided us towards making appropriate wills, setting up a trust for our granddaughter, and also taking out a life assurance policy needed to avoid financial problems that each of us might face in old age. We also made several significant improvements to our home that we might not have considered without this financial security that we have now found. Meetings with Bharat were never hurried, always taking care that everything was properly explained and understood. What would happen next, and how long this would take was always explained.

These past five years have seen our savings grow and grow and grow to a value that we are more than happy with.
