What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Bad advice previously, lost confidence in advisors but having spoke to flying colours they recommended John Fielding in our area.

After John contacted us, we liked the way he went about the job and arranged to meet him at our home. We were very impressed with how helpful he was without even being signed up for anything. We have been happy with everything John has done for us and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him. After a divorce settlement gave me a a pension share which I had to place in my own pension plan and I didn’t feel confident to deal with myself

John has been available to help me with any concerns I have had. Reassure me during the recent and ongoing difficulties that we are all experiencing with the economy and world events. John is very good at explaining things to me that would otherwise go over my head. I trust John completely have my best interest at heart as he has taken the time to get to know me, my circumstances and what is important to me . Will always get back to me if I have contacted him with any concerns or questions I have regarding my finances.

John has always been clear with my pension and its performance and is available as and when required. Any service I need is actioned promptly.

With various global issues currently causing problematic investment opportunities which are out of John's control, the outcome has not been quite as the original forecast. This has not reflection on FC ability and to be fair they have done much better than many other investment companies....if not all of them.

Nothing.......without taking additional risk which they did not recommend at this current time.

Change in circumstances from full time employed to self employed and looking at what to do with two company pension plans and semi - retirement.

Found the advice provided by John Fielding to be delivered in a reassuring & confident manner. He didn’t try to bamboozle me with a barrage of technical, financial terms. On the contrary everything was explained clearly and was easy to understand. Any questions I had were dealt with competently and he was happy to answer all the questions I asked. Didn’t feel as if I was being subjected to high pressure sales pitch but felt that John wanted to ensure that I fully understood what he told me before making a major financial decision. Left our meeting feeling confident that he was definitely working in my best interest. Provided guidance and advice on how to move employer pension to a pre-existing personal pension, also reviewed investments in the personal pension to ensure they were aligned with my long-term plans. John explained everything very clearly, along with the reasons for his advice. As part of more general discussions whilst we purchase a new home, John helped my husband and I review our critical illness and life insurance provisions. He recommended one change to my provisions and helped with putting a new policy in place, but also pointed out that another existing policy was perfectly adequate and didn't need to be changed.

Throughout the process , all advice provided was clearly explained. Also felt my thoughts and expectations were listened to and fully taken into account; indeed my gut feel not to move one of my occupational pension pots was confirmed by Johns research & analysis and he agreed with me, fully explaining the reasons why. All questions I had were competently answered in a way I understood.

Early stages but so far 'Yes" as fully aware that any type of investment needs to be viewed in the medium to long term.

What could they have done better?

At this stage I can honestly say that I don't have any constructive suggestions for improvement. Following an accident and in the light of the new pension rules, we were looking for advice on combining several pension pots and looking for the confidence to allow my husband to not have to work and for myself to give up work and retire early.
