I wanted to move two older pensions into a more modern flexible pension. There was a problem that one of the pensions was a trustee buyout plan and therefore much more complicated.

No because after weeks of consideration I decided to obtain my annuity from a different provider.

What could they have done better?

Nothing really. I believe that the fee for the service was reasonable considering it included the setting up of an annuity, and additional financial advice. Unfortunately, the annuity offer which I accepted from a different provider was over £4000 annually more than Sanjays quote and was to good to dismiss. Furthermore, there was no fee to pay as this was payed to the annuity broker in commission by the annuity provider

Peter and Sanjay were very helpful. They answered all my questions quickly and applied no pressure at any time. I had to contact them numerous times, which they replied promptly.

I wanted to change my DB pension into a DC drawdown pension to assist my early retirement plans.

Sanjay took all our financial information and future spend requirements of our planned early retirement at age 55 (at the time I was 52 and my wife was 50). Sanjay evaluated the CETV of my existing DB scheme to confirm it was a good offer and then with his profiling tools was able to confirm a DB transfer was in our best interests for our early retirement plans. My wife has a DB pension (18 years service) so this complimented my transfer. I would say I have a higher than average knowledge level of pensions and retirement plans but Sanjay held our hands through this life-changing decision with clear projections and illustrations and at no time were we pressured into making a decision.

We have the outcome we were hoping for with the DB transfer completed (to Royal London drawdown plan) and Sanjay also helped me move some smaller DC plans I had to the same Royal London drawdown plan. Sanjay has further helped us move our Royal London plan within the Royal London options to one with less exposure to the stock market now we are getting closer to 55.

I was looking to transfer a final salary scheme to a money purchase scheme and found that lots of IFAS were unwilling to help or were very expensive

He provided advice on my transfer but more importantly stayed in contact at every stage and explained the process all the way through. Regulation states that you have to pay for the transfer advice even if the advice is to stay with the final salary scheme. This concerned me but a very detailed abridged advice report was completed to ensure that a transfer would be suitable.

I don’t think anything could have been any better. They provided great advice and reassurance at every stage if the process. Having reached 55yrs old I wanted to semi-retire so that I could provide childcare to my 2yr old Grand daughter. Looking at the figures on my HBOS Final Salary Pension, I had resigned myself to seeing retirement as not an option until my state pension started at 67yrs old, and even then I would probably still need to work! A friend recommended Sanjay and suggested I give him a call. He spoke very highly of Sanjay, having utilised his services in relation to his own pension.

With great professionalism and an empathic understanding of my situation, Sanjay reassured me that my situation was one that he had dealt with numerous times before. As a professional he didn't give me any false hopes or misguided expectations, Sanjay was straight talking, honest and informed me of the process we would need to go through before an outcome could be determined. At every stage of the process Sanjay was on hand to offer guidance and advice, either by phone or email (which he always replied to promptly!) . I had reached age 55 and having retired early was looking to access my pensions. I had a DB pension and a DC pension and needed advice on how best to deal with each. I had approached Pension Wise in the first instance, they recommended Hansons. I also met with another couple of firms so that I could get a feel for who I felt I could work with best.

How has Sanjay Gambhir helped you?

Sanjay spent a good deal of time at the initial meeting with me and my husband to understand our overall financial position. In subsequent meetings Sanjay took us through some very thorough analysis of various options that were available to me. He outlined benefits and associated risk recommending an option that gave us the potential for the returns that we were looking for at an even lower level of risk than we had indicated we were comfortable to take. I feel totally confident in Sanjay's approach, he is always keen to explain areas that I struggle to understand, over and over if necessary, without making me feel stupid. His customer service is second to none. He is always available to take my calls or answer my emails, even on topics not directly related to my pension, but other investment queries that crop up. I feel that the benefits that I will receive from my pension are far better as a result of my dealings with Sanjay. I'm so please that I took professional advice, and so pleased that I chose Sanjay as my financial advisor.
