What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I inherited various funds which were all in different accounts and portfolio's from my late husband and also had money from the sale of a property and and two ISA's.

How has Martin Wilcocks helped you?

Swift transference of the various funds onto the Transact Platform and starting to ecru interest straight away. Helpful advice from Martin has aided this transition enormously, with sound advice and a can-do positive attitude!

Yes, funds have gone up significantly in a very short space of time, impressive knowledge by Martin is the obvious cause.

Recommendation is by far and safest way to protect and ensure your investments are as safe. As they can be in this turbulent world we live in !

How has Martin Wilcocks helped you?

I had too much of my pension sat in fixed income, not doing that much, and Martin reversed the strategy applying more stocks. I was initially a bit nervous but the evidence I was shown gave me confidence and all being well we will see a boosted return over the years.

Not yet but it has been a difficult few years ! But there has been steady growth and I trust Martin that he has the right strategy and expertise to grow my investments better than anyone else .

Due to having some very complex pension issues, I recognised I needed the help of an independent financial advisor, I set about a comprehensive search of who I believed I could work with us, and who could provide the knowledge and guidance I needed. This search eventually led me to choose Martin Wilcocks at Wilcocks & Wilcocks

How has Martin Wilcocks helped you?

Following an initial meeting at their offices in Liverpool, I probably became one of Martin’s hardest challenges to win over, due to having several complex pension issues. Martin quickly provided an outline plan on how he saw best to resolve my situation. I was able to challenge and test Martin throughout this process to ensure I had the best solution possible. One of my other reasons for choosing Martin was that it's a family run business. When utilised effectively, I believe the power of a family working together to meet individual customers' specific needs, cannot be beaten and this has been proven to be the case thus far. To date they have exceeded my expectations, both with their service, as well as meeting the financial returns I expected, which in these uncertain times is not an easy task. My decision to go with them has proven to be the right one, and I look forward to working with the family throughout my retirement years.

I was recommended to Martin by my Brother who has used Martin for a few years and who has given both of us good advice especially during these last few challenging years! I had my SIP with Legal and General and it was fairly static?

Martin has moved my money into Transact and although we have gone through turmoil with Covid and the war in Ukraine and the wholly mess that this Government has created with the economy! My money hasn’t performed as well I would have hoped? I believe it has faired better than my previous investor? Martin is there for advice and guidance and it’s nice to have a person who is expert and very knowledgeable in this field and is only a phone call or e mail away and responds very quickly.

Because of the reasons above ! The outcome as with everyone else’s finances are not what we wanted but this is a waiting game and I expect things to get moving hopefully soon with hopefully a steady government at the helm ?

As well as keeping on top of our investments. We have also give the go ahead for Martin to undertake our inheritance planning. With a healthy pension pot. We want to make sure that if we did leave this mortal coil our money goes to the people we want it to go to. Again as with our Pensions Martin has explained clearly how and what this entails. Admittedly if I had not known Martin from our previous ventures I would have thought this to be pricey. However I know the quality of the product that Martin is I involved with. To that end, I would say it is a quality product and worth the price. With all our inheritance planning done for us. This is another thing not to worry about. With the confidence of knowing that Martin is involved is a great comfort!

I significantly researched several local FIA’s before choosing Wilcock’s & Wilcock’s, after meeting with Martin I found him to have that something extra that I was looking for in a financial advisor, as well as being a person that I could work closely with. He put forward a comprehensive proposal for dealing with my complex financial situation, which to date the returns have exceeded my expectations. All members of this family run business are a pleasure to deal and only helped to exceed the customer service level I expected, my only regret is that I should have done this sooner!

I engaged Martin initially to facilitate drawing down funds from two separate pensions. This he did with speed and efficiency which helped us achieve a very tight deadline for our immediate needs of access to monies to help with my daughter's house purchase. This has had many positive spin-off effects. Following Martin's expert guidance and advice, the remaining sums have been invested using an agreed formula. So far, a year in, this has yielded a very good return. I would have no hesitation in recommending Martin and his company. I'm confident in his knowledge and application, and the Wilcox staff have given absolutely first class service.

Rather than just offer a simple answer, that didnt even require a financial planner, a structure on how to make the most of the payment was offered that would have uplifted the amount of money in question. Martin went to great lengths to resolve the issue with the returns on my pensions by swapping them over to a new provider that had better growth .We had to pay a penalty's for leaving early,Martin informed me that over the years to come we would recoup our losses and more.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had two pensions and one ISA. I have taken early retirement and wanted the two pensions and ISA amalgamated in a way that would fund my retirement.

How has Martin Wilcocks helped you?

Martin explained to myself and the wife. How he would go about aceiving this. He explained to us about investments stocks and bonds. We discussed what sort of risk that we would be prepared to take with investments. Martin has very clear ideas and plans of how to invest and he explained this very clearly to the two of us.

It is to early to say whether the plans will come to fruition. But with Martin on board I don't see any problems with achieving what we are aiming for. That being a long and fruitful retirement.

What could they have done better?

To me, Martin has done all that we would expect from an IFA. He has done this in a friendly manner and explained all aspects of the pensions, savings and shares and bonds.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I have been TUPE transferred a number of times so I had two money purchase pension schemes which were incurring costs but not actually growing to offset this. I could no longer invest in these schemes and thought I ought to lump them together somewhere which would provide a better return and lower costs. Additionally I had a couple of stocks and shares ISAs which were also stagnant and needed to be looked at.

How has Martin Wilcocks helped you?

Martin suggested investing these monies into his standard scheme using transact as a wrapper and allowing me to check on investments and the scheme value. He took me through the options (cautious or adventurous) and suggested my options. He never once suggested that I should change my previous, deferred, final salary scheme pension as he agreed that was a good fallback to have and I was also in a new pension scheme that would, hopefully, provide a good outcome.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

At present it is early days and the stock market is slightly quiet due to brexit and elections but I am hopeful it will provide the sort of income I would like in retirement.

What could they have done better?

There were no issues. Martin is direct and gives you the facts as he sees them. He didn't try to sway me to pick something with which I would have been uncomfortable. Less paperwork would have been nice but this is the nature of transferring funds out of pension schemes and ISAs.

Martin has been exceptional in going about setting up my pension. Friendly, knowledgable, open and honest. Explained his plans, what he thought was best for me(and the wife). He listened to what we had to say. He also explained how the pensions, stocks and bonds worked. I wanted to take early retirement and while i had my own financial plans, i wanted these to be checked and validated to ensure my funds would be sufficient to provide for me and that i would be able to meet my future life style goals.

Having clearly understood my long term retirement aspirations, my concerns about company pension schemes, and my view to risk, Martin provided the 'sanity' check i required on my overall fund planning. He has been been extremely supportive in assisting me transfer out of my company scheme such that i can secure these funds for the future, and should i die early these can be passed on to my sons rather than just 'lost' to the company pension pot.

Continued advise and support has been received over the last 18 months while i have tried to transfer out of my company pension scheme into my own private pension funds.

Having to use a third party to gain the appropriate FSA approval to transfer out of a company scheme added complexity and a level of frustration although i fully appreciate Martins needs for doing this.
