What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

A mortgage for my first property and subsequent insurance policies.

How has Paul Sweetland helped you?

Paul asked me some basic questions about what I wanted, and we discussed what was achievable with my finances. He made everything very clear, easy to understand and kept me informed and up to date throughout the whole process. Paul has also helped me in finding insurance policies to cover life and income protection.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, absolutely. I am now in my first property with the mortgage payments I wanted. I could not have achieved this without Paul's expertise.

money was invested in a Bond,which i received a monthly income from. My share of money from a pension that my Ex husband had was put into my one personal pension for the future. Some money was invested in an investment ISA

I have been very happy with outcome.Obviously things are challenging at present any way,with low interest rates. I am also someone who wishes not to take too much of a risk,and I have never felt pressured by Paul to make an investment I don't feel comfortable with, but I also appreciate everything has a risk.

Wanted to find an honest trustworthy advisor for the long term. Someone who truely provides independent advice without the worry.

Providing good quality investment and pension advice, with very clear goals and advice. A reliable trustworthy service I would recommend to anyone. I know he deals with celebrities and sports people but I am a humble Joe Bloggs!

Yes and more. Pension advice has been first class and all my investments and dividends continue to perform.

What could they have done better?

I am a Business Consultant and as such do not tolerate fools lightly. Sceptical by nature I am very guarded but can honestly say you cannot get a better advisor than this guy. What’s nice is he has a consistent set of values and never tells you what he wants you to hear - only what you need to know and with professional advisors that’s a refreshing change!

I have been a customer for many years, initially through a friend's recommendation at a time when finding a reliable pensions and savings adviser was a matter of anxiety to many. My understanding of money matters is not nil, but it is slight, and until recent retirement I was too busy at work to attend to this properly. Paul Sweetland and colleagues have consistently dealt with this in a reliable and reassuring way. Email enquiries are responded to rapidly and personally (I have never received a standard or form-based response, or anything unclear). Similarly with the occasional phone discussion. Face to face meetings have been held when needed - I have never felt pressured into meeting unnecessarily. I was once persuaded by my bank's "adviser" to take out a pension that provided poor returns - this was quietly rectified. Aspects of tax planning was offered, but my current situation did not require it. Finally, the insurance broking side has been consistently reliable, reviewing and changing each year as needed and on occasion saving considerable amounts. Costs feel right and have been explained to me, but I have not compared costs with other services and for that reason only have only marked value for money as "good".

What could they have done better?

The initial Financial Planning Questionnaire, while comprehensive and not hard to complete, is a little old fashioned in style and may benefit from revision at some point to improve readability (I have a past professional interest in this kind of thing!)
