What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had to finish work unexpectedly due to health issues which in turn had a financial impact. Debts were building plus I had family expenditure responsibilities i.e. son's wedding, birth of grandchildren and a construction project I was committed to on the home. I'd reached 55 and after talking to friends about pensions they mentioned the benefits of speaking to a financial adviser.

Jonathan spoke at length about the different options open to me. He gave an analysis of all my pensions and explained at length any information that wasn't sinking in. Furthermore Jonathan is a personable person which helped with our conversation and we didn't feel pressure to make any decisions going forward.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

At the moment yes. We received a 25% tax-free lump sum which has been invaluable to our finances. It's too early to say how the remaining sum of money invested from the private pension will perform.

What could they have done better?

I don't think Jonathan could have helped us more to be fair. Any disappointment I have is down to the private pension company who seemed to have a long drawn process when it comes to releasing funds which has cost me a considerable amount financially.

Jonathan guided me through the whole process of my retirement. He is very knowledgeable and gives great advice. He is helpful and professional but friendly too, he is always interested in how the family are and what we have planned.
