What could they have done better?

Ian could have done no more for me. His service and advice were excellent. The only point I would make is that although I appreciate the need for compliance, I work in that area myself, it is supposed to protect the customer. I was going to make the transfer whatever advice I received, I am a 'sophisticated investor' and understand the issues, benefits and consequences. However, I have to pay almost £10,000 for something where I received no benefit in terms of advice or outcome. This is compliance gone mad and should be addressed by the government or regulator. It isn't Ian and The Private Office's fault and I reiterate that the service I received was excellent.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was looking for some advice as to the most efficient ways to save for retirement and also some guidance on IHT rules and options in retirement.

Ian Hawkes draw me up an excellent cash flow forecast and answered all of my questions about IHT planning and retirement options from his clearly extension knowledge on the subjects.
