I had bee with the same adviser for about 15 years and he has never changed my investments. Penny spread my investments over a wider range of products so reducing my risk.

Transferring my pension and ISA. Ensuring my investments are fairly low risk as in my 70’s. Advising on inheritance tax. Offering advise on how to invest money when we downsize.

I did have a very good increase in value of funds until early this year. My pension fund has dropped since early this year but I appreciate this is due to the covid pandemic and the Ukraine War. I trust Penny to keep an eye on the funds and move as appropriate.

With guidance and help from Penny transferred pension and since transfer all my concerns are answered fully . It is also reassuring to know that I have an advisor to hand when concerns come up. Managing one’s pension is extremely important as it is your only source of income in retirement so it is reassuring I have the right person advising to allow me to make an informed decision.

Outcomes in the market place go up and down so the gains could be a little better, but not always possible with current situation.

What could they have done better?

Well I would like to see incentive based charges, at the moment when I make a loss , the charges remain the same and so what ever happens there is no real impact on my costs I have to pay out, to me it feels to me like they never loose like the clients.

My savings were exceeding the level of my financial acumen so it made sense to approach people who were qualified to advise.

Initially it was to review my current investments and advise on improvements. This lead to looking at my inheritance tax liabilities and what could be done in mitigation.

Yes although, of course, I won't actually know how well my inheritance tax measures have panned out until I am dead so I have have decided to take that part on trust.

Nothing springs to mind. I feel that if anything did occur to me, I would be able to bring it up at that time and we would work it out between us.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Retiring at 62 years of age and wanted access my private pension. I needed guidance on what option would best suit my needs for the future.

How has Penny Wriderholt helped you?

I emailed Penny regarding my options and she contacted me to arrange a consultation. I chose to have a telephone consultation and it worked perfectly. My husband was also present. Penny asked various questions about my current status and what I wanted for the future, she gave me various options that might suit my needs. This Consultation was followed by a comprehensive report. After another few conversations I decided what would suit me. At all times I felt very comfortable talking to Penny and she always gave me the option of a face to face meeting but I was happy talking over the phone. Penny was very helpful and informative and answered all of my questions thoroughly. I can’t thank her enough. Just prior to the new financial year (2020) Penny contacted me again to check if I was happy with everything and whether I wanted to alter anything.

I had been recommended by friend’s using Hoyl Independent Advisers, and was introduced to Penny.

How has Penny Wriderholt helped you?

Penny reinvested my pension fund and my ISA. She has advised me on inheritance tax and came up with some brilliant ideas which we will put into force when we downsize - which should be in the next two years.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes I have - My investments have fallen slightly due to the current financial situation (COVID- 19 lockdown) but I think I am in a much better situation than I would have been with my previous financial adviser.

What could they have done better?

Nothing that I can think of but only joined Hoyl’s last autumn.

I don’t think Penny could have done better... who foresaw Covid-19? Hopefully she is checking all my investments to make sure they’re in the best places.

I had various pensions which required looking into with the possibility of them being amalgamated.

How has Penny Wriderholt helped you?

Penny reviewed all the pensions I had and looked at the best way In which these old work for me. Most have been amalgamated I to one pension and placed into funds that suit my level of risk. These are reviewed on annual basis with me to see if my appetite to risk has changed.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I have been very pleased with the pension investment, although during the COVID crises the funds have dropped slightly. Penny did contact me during this time and advised me of the situation and was encouraged hear that my particular pension hadn’t been hit too hard and the likelihood of a good recovery was promising. Overall, I am happy with the current pension Fund investments.
