What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I am a long-term expat Briton, living in China, and I needed investment and retirement planning advice from someone who understood these specific circumstances.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I am at a time in life where I want to put my finances in order ready for retirement. As Sasan has been my wife's financial adviser for a number of years, I thought it made sense for me to also benefit from his excellent expertise.

How has Sasan Lohrasb helped you?

We did a full financial review and then consolidated my pensions pots in a better investment vehicle.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I am really happy with the outcome. It has brought a lot more clarity and improved the quality of my investments. I am looking forward to enjoying the ongoing relationship.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My sister who used to lived in China, knew one of Sasan’s colleagues who recommended Sasan as he had newly returned to the U.K. and I was looking into investing money in London (as I was living there).

How has Sasan Lohrasb helped you?

From the beginning, Sasan has been very supportive, helpful and understanding. I was quite young when I introduced to Sasan and didn’t have much knowledge in investments. Sasan was able to listen to me and make great advice based on my situation and profile.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was seconded to China as part of a senior management team and found myself with considerable additional income and no effective planning in place to manage investing. And fair too busy to manage investments myself as I had in the past.

How has Sasan Lohrasb helped you?

Set up an international investment bond and also arranged a good value full life insurance and investment policy.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, achieved more or less the desired growth on most products. Going into retirement in the near future and things are looking good, probably a lot better than originally envisaged. I didn't have the time to manage my own money, so it's impossible to say whether I could do better. Probably not.

What could they have done better?

I have seen Sasan grow from a relatively inexperienced advisor into a confident and rounded professional. With hindsight I am a little cross with myself that I didn't challenge him on some of the earlier calls. After all, I have been through a load of market crashes and he was still at university during the GFC (I even taught him).

I was living in China as an expat and looking for advice regarding long-term investments and savings.

Sasan has helped me tremendously over the past 4+ years. He has been advising me regarding long-term investments and savings when I was in China and then when I moved back to the UK. He is also currently helping me to consolidate my pension.

We have invested with St James' Place for a number of years, and Sasan was recommended to us as he has a great deal of expertise in financial planning and in particular assisting ex-pats return to the UK and manage their investments.

I was not getting much feedback from my previous FA at a time when I had more to potentially invest.

How has Sasan Lohrasb helped you?

He clarified the rules regarding overseas residency, in terms of UK pensions and advised how to move my pension to one that aligned with HMRC requirements. He advised on a medium risk savings plan that has now been in operation for almost 4 years and is growing better than original estimations. I find his regular check-ins are probably the most effective part of his service for me.

Repatriating back to the UK after living long-term in China I needed help and advice on how to best utilise my savings through investments suitable for being back in the UK as a resident.

How has Sasan Lohrasb helped you?

Sasan has the perfect background and experience for my situation as he is both UK and China certified, very rare for a financial advisor. It was extremely helpful to have someone who understands the challenges of returning from expat life overseas. Sasan assisted me in setting up my investments, ISA and retirement account, encashing several overseas investment/pension funds to consolidate for easy management and private health insurance. He has kept me well informed on my investments, different options available to me and ongoing market updates and advice through regular messages, emails and meetings. He has also researched and offered up-to-date options for inheritance tax planning. Above and beyond this, Sasan has not only been an outstanding professional advisor, he has also become a valued friend.

Reaching retirement age people naturally are planning ahead. I wanted to make sure that I was not missing any essential aspects of retirement planning, while at the same time investing part of my assets without having to take care of the portfolio myself any longer.

In several sessions, Sasan took the time to analyze my present wealth status, help me to finetune my retirement goals, and point out alternative instruments on how to reach them.
