What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Initially Richard invested money for us whilst we were acting as Deputies of the Court of Protection for my aunt who was no longer competent to manage her financial affairs. Later he continued to act for me when my aunt sadly passed away and I inherited a share of her estate.

Having made the decision to move my pension out of a final salary scheme and into a SIPP I needed someone who could explain my options and the risks and potential benefits. It was the biggest financial decision of my life and I was to say the least cautious. As such I spoke with four IFAs before making my decision but Richard gave me the confidence to make that decision in a fully informed way.

How has Richard Eastwood helped you?

Explained the risks and potential upsides of each option in great detail. Spent time ensuring I fully understood the decision I was making. Determined my attitude to risk (Low!) and invested appropriately. 12 months after transfer he reviewed my investments with me and we decided to switch to a similar alternative portfolio. This has performed well. He also advised us on making a lump sum payment from our business into my wife's pension scheme (given that she will soon be 55 and able to draw on her pension) and in doing so saved c£4k in Corporation tax. This proactive advice was just what I needed.

Fingers crossed it has worked well so far. It is now almost 4 years since the transfer and my pension is now worth more than it was on day one notwithstanding I've taken a good income from it. I know this can change and that there are likely to be ups and downs but so far so good.
