My pensions and financial opportunities were scattered around and not managed and I did not have a progressing pension fund.

How has Thomas Hatley helped you?

Tom helped ensure all are operating to their full potential and explains everything in advance and gains my approval before progressing. He even identified several pension funds I had lost track of. He and his team have brought all my finances into a well managed collective which is making more money for me that I ever imagined possible.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Initially approached Tom for pension planning. I have found his advice covers much more than just pension. Income tax and approach to saving etc. all end up interlinked. I was initially struggling to decide as alot of the pension advisers charge high fees and make great claims. I have found that Tom's advice has saved me a lot of money and also grown my understanding of the rules and processes to follow. He is happy to explain his logic and reasoning so that you make the decisions based an a good understanding of complex options

How has Thomas Hatley helped you?

Tom has advised me what to do with my pension. STraight away he saved me a lot of money by pointing out I could start to receive a defined benefit pension early with no loss of benefits. I am still working and go to Tom for advice on how much to continue putting in the pension and how to finance things until I retire. I feel much better informed. Tom is approachable and I am comfortable asking for advice on my finances.

Yes. Initially I just wanted to know if I had enough money to retire. Tom has gone a lot further than that, Working with Tom has saved me money and taught me a lot more about pensions so I'm in a better position to take control of my financial circumstances.

My brother recommended that I should, and he had personal contact with Tom's predecessors.

He visits me once a year and discusses my financial affairs with me, giving me guidance. He has recommended courses of action that I have found useful. I rely on his understanding of the whole range of financial matters. I feel free to ask him things, and he invariably responds promptly.

As far as I can understand, I am happy with what Tom has recommended. He certainly puts my mind at rest, which is important to me.

Tom has looked at a multitude of scenarios for me. He has talked them through in easily understable language and given me time and space to make decisions.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

More than. The option I went for, which I had ruled out previously, gives me a much better outlook going forward.

What could they have done better?

Nothing. I had taken advice from a different adviser before I went to Tom for a second opinion. The two experiences were a world apart and I switched my business to Tom. He shows a real interest in what my aims are in the near future and moving forward. He genuinely cares that myself and my partner can live the retirement we want to.

Over many years Tom has helped me develop a really good understanding of how finance and investment works and how relevant it is for me. We Spent a lot of the time planning for my retirement. As a consequence I was able to retire at 60 years old and secure in the knowledge that I would have money to spend in a variety of ways throughout my retirement. Worries about money can cloud everything so feeling secure about your money being in a good place to grow and having Tom to advise as events change is very reassuring.,

My wife and i required pensions advice, and she was due to retire in the next 2-3 years, and I was at risk of redundancy and needed advice around pensions and income upon retirement.

Upon being made redundant, I was able to retire at 53, whilst my wife was able to retire a year later, at 56. We have been advised on how to manage our retirement income from both retirement funds and various savings. We have thoroughly enjoyed being retired for the last 3 years!

After 60 years my finances were scattered all around so Tom helped get it all sorted.

How has Thomas Hatley helped you?

Tom has clearly explained everything and options - including shares where his team have now transferred it all to environmentally friendly ones following a request I made. At the outset Tom clearly explained all the environmental categories and I confirmed which I would like to see my shares helping. He sorted out my various pensions and secured some I had lost track of. He subsequently discussed with me how they could b managed to provide the best yields when I retire.

This was our first time meeting with Tom, we have an uncomplicated portfolio that basically includes a single sum of money and our state pensions as income. Our outgoings exceed our income and we therefore require careful investment with the little we have. Tom always appeared to be interested in us as people, rather than how much money we have to invest and his desire to ensure we planned well was evident and he came across as trustworthy, although we only chatted for about an hour and 15 minutes. We felt so comfortable with his suggested next steps, we have decided not to look any further and will be making our financial plan with Tom's advice. Previously to meeting Tom we had called a recommended advisor who basically told us we didn't have sufficient funds and that he would have to charge his higher rate which would be 1.5%, Tom offered us his advice for a single one-off payment and didn't quibble about the sum of money we were discussing. A pleasant, honest and helpful person to discuss our situation with. We will definately use his services and to top it off, we live in Otley and less than 5 minutes drive from his office :-)

Getting older I realised I needed help sorting out my finances and di not know how to do this or what options were available and which would suit my circumstances best. I had worked in Otley for a couple of years and seen what a tremendous organiser Tom was getting everything done with seeming ease and confidence and, hearing from people he had helped, always in the best possible way.

Firstly Tom gathered information about my pensions collected over the years from various public and private sector schemes - some I did not even know still existed as the companies I worked for had long since been brought out.
