How has Veronica Mann helped you?

Ensuring my pension and other investments are in logical funds that I can access as and when required. Veronica explains things in a way which is easy to understand, will spend time re-explaining in easier terms if I fail to understand the technicalities initially and politely prompts me to keep me on track with my financial arrangements. All this is done in a very amiable manner and with good humour which is greatly appreciated.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I have enjoyed the services of an IFA on a fee basis for many years, mainly for advise with insurance and pensions. Having retired and then moved at the start of COVID I needed a new IFA to traverse the hitherto unchartered waters of lifetime mortgage/equity release.

How has Veronica Mann helped you?

After a detailed fact find and form filling Veronica soon came up with lifetime mortgage proposals from a number of leading providers. . Veronica met and exceeded our very narrow brief of requirements. She is very level headed; a prompt communicator; and is risk averse.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, We have just achieved a second advance on our plan

What could they have done better?

I hate sending documents by the royal mail, form filling and signing. Some documents can be sent, printed , signed and sent back electronically , some cannot. Even from the same source in the same bundle of documents. No one seems to know which they are, until you ask.

When I originally met Veronica I had no savings and pretty much lived just within my means. Over the years she has ensured that I have enough savings for my retirement, for emergencies and my children. She has also ensured that I have appropriate insurance and protection to care for my family and I.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had two small pension pots that urgently needed a safe home otherwise the insurance companies would turn them into annuities.

How has Veronica Mann helped you?

Veronica is calm and explains things very well. There were a lot of questions to answer which she guided me through with great patience. Also suggested I spend some money on myself/home which I was saving for emergencies which now the new invested money could cover. I hadn’t thought of that.

Yes. Veronica also advised the necessity of Powers of Attorney, especially for older people. She has greatly helped me in this matter.

Since then, she has continued to review and refine my portfolio, and has encouraged me to find ways of better balancing my income, investments and expenditure. She listens to my questions and concerns with a constructive attitude and gives clear advice, supported by explanation of the development of her views and consideration of areas where uncertainty exists. She has further advised me on the management of the bequest from my Mother after her death earlier this year, and on options for transferring some of my inherited moneys to younger members of the family. She was kind enough to speak to family members in order to explain our situation when an area of uncertainty arose in relation to a family trust concerning property. She particularly seeks to support and advise women who are, or have become, single and must manage their affairs with the effects on taxation, gifting and the management of residential property which can arise as a result of this singular status. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My firesat met with Veronica in 2019. My wife and I were looking to retire in 2020. I have always had a financial advisor and needed one who was more local. Veronica goes that extra mile and truly has the clients interests at heart. She is very personable and, most importantly, inspired confidence in my wife.

How has Veronica Mann helped you?

She published a financial profile both before and after retirement. She established that we met the criteria for a Lifetime mortgage and what percentage and amount of the value of any new property we could raise in this way. Her fees were agreed before work started and were very reasonable.

Yes we obtained a very flexible lifetime mortgage with a company that is responsive to our needs.

This gives us a measure of security in looking forward to the future and it takes some of the worry and onus from us in that there is a friendly IFA there to help us - we are not alone!

What could they have done better?

Sometimes there is a plethora of forms and a strong measure of bureacracy - this is not something Veronica can do anything about as she has to do due diligence and follow the procedures but if IFAs as a group could lobby for less red tape, that would be good.

In 2007, I was reorganising my business and personal finances. My accountant suggested that I needed better professional investment and pension advice and recommended Veronica.
