What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was with SJP and was unhappy with the service and financial advice or lack thereof that I was receiving once I retired. I wanted to talk to a smaller bespoke wealth manager who would understand my financial requirements, provide financial planning going forward and manage my portfolio accordingly.

How has John Stirling helped you?

John has been outstanding from the moment we met. I spent nearly 2 hours going through my issues and concerns and he was able to put my mind at rest through careful and simple explanations. He fully understood my concerns and was able to explain in simple terms how he could put together a financial plan to meet my own and my family's needs going forward. He presented a full review of my financial situation now and going forward many years to demonstrate how I should utilise my income, tax benefits and allowances. He subsequently arranged for my pensions and ISA's to be transferred and invested in a less volatile pension portfolio and structured a financial plan to provide me with a regular monthly income going forward. In addition John has provided my wife and I with valuable advice on inheritance tax planning and gifting and advice around property sales tax and capital gains.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely. My monthly financial needs are met and my pension investments have been performing well. I have been able to utilise tax allowances and I am very happy with my financial position going forward and can now enjoy my life without the stress and worry of how to manage my finances. Overall John and his team have been very proactive and contactable in relation to my portfolio and around budget concerns which allows me to make decisions on my portfolio quickly and with the assurance of having had good financial advice beforehand.

What could they have done better?

At this stage I don't believe John and his team could have done any better. They have been throughly professional, proactive, and patient in all my dealings with them over the past 12 months. John is the first wealth manager I have met over many years who can explain everything in understandable terms and had a first rate understanding of every topic relating to financial planning.

John has remained a key advisor on many matters related to financial planning. I would not make any significant decisions relating to financial matters without seeking his advice. John has also been of great source of advice for our wider family, which is of great value to us.
