After having worked for several employers offering to top up pension contributions, I needed to consolidate all accounts into a single SIPP, but was unsure how to go about doing it. I also needed impartial advice on savings, investing, and planning for the future.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Alex was introduced to us by our accountant. We already have a strong and trusted relationship and so felt a natural step as our need for financial planning began to grow rapidly. We are fairly busy and didn't really have time to closely manage our affairs, and happier trusting a qualified professional.

How has Alexander Fry helped you?

Personal attention and visit ensured Alex provided the time for us to understand the message he was conveying. We were cautious early in our consultation but that was more around our difficulty understanding the process that we were beginning to embark on.

Although early days, we can already begin to see the changes that have been made will bear fruit. We hope to develop the relationship and feel its lilly we will need to consider other areas of our financial lives.

He completed the transfer of my private pension to a new provider including a portion that had been held back because the fund had been suspended. This took some time and persistence. As a result of Alex’s advice, I realised I could afford to retire earlier than expected which was a real bonus. Alex organised an adequate income from pensions and investments to tide me through to state pension age. The new private pension has performed well.

Impending retirement. Our objectives were to simplify matters by amalgamating numerous pensions from several employers into one pot, to protect the value of our contributions over a lifetime's work so that this would not be lost upon our demise and to pass this to our children.

Alex put in an enormous amount of work sorting out a very complex situation which took over a year to complete during which all our objectives were achieved.

It has been an extremely turbulent time in financial markets since we first engaged so I would say that more time is required to provide a definitive answer. However I think it would be fair to say that things could have been a lot worse and Alex's advice has been very sound.

I had a pension from a previous employer from whom I was made redundant, 1 with my current employer and needed advice with regard to the new Government auto enrolment scheme introduced in 2012

He obtained figures for me of my previous employers pension and found out that this wouldn't be passed onto my children in the event of my death, only half to my husband and then ceases on his death. The new pension arrangement passes any balance to my husband and then my children.
