What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I was with a previous mortgage advice team, through which I experienced repeated delays which lead to me having less than a month before my mortgage was due for renewal with nothing in place. I remembered Gavin from my original mortgage deal and took steps to seek him out specifically. I remembered how brilliant he is!

Gavin helped me secure a great deal on my re-mortgage with a very tight turn-around. Consistent, well informed contact was maintained throughout the process with help and insights offered along the way. He was excellent at keeping me updated on progress and advocating on my behalf.

Absolutely! I made contact first on February 19th and with Gavin's help, secured a new deal within two months.

What could they have done better?

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

For our latest interaction, Gavin reminded us that our buy to let mortgage was reaching the end of its fixed term. In a very difficult market we were unsure how best to proceed.

How has Gavin Torpey helped you?

Gavin was reassuring immediately, without glossing over the changed market (much higher interest rates) since we first took out this mortgage. He talked through our circumstances with us and helped us to set realistic goals. Gavin is great at thinking differently about mortgages and had some really interesting ideas that we would never have thought of. He went and did loads of research and comparisons for us and presented us with a couple of options and some advice on how we might proceed.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We absolutely got the outcome we were hoping for! We are signed up to a flexible new deal, much cheaper than we'd imagined was possible and which we can easily exit if the market starts to return to lower interest rates. A great result and a very personalised and non-judgmental service.

What could they have done better?

Honestly, we couldn't have imagined half of what Gavin recommended to us and so he hugely exceeded our expectations - including a last minute re-packaging of our deal as he had noticed the interest rate had gone down slightly since we signed up!! Nothing could have possibly been done better.

Gavin went absolutely above and beyond to help me and my partner make the best choices for us when buying our first home. Gavin advised us for almost a year and half as it took us so long to get to the point of completing after many offers or offers falling through and he was always just a phone call away if I needed any help. He also helped give us all the info we need on insurances once we had exchanged contracts so once again we could make the decisions that were right for our circumstances.

I wished to take out an interest only mortgage to fund a house purchase.

How has Gavin Torpey helped you?

Gavin was absolutely brilliant, as well as sorting out the mortgage quickly and efficiently, he offered support and advice throughout the ups and downs of my purchase and worked with the mortgage company and me to quickly find a solution when my buyer pulled out from the sale. Gavin always responded quickly to emails and his responses were clear and easy to understand. I also purchased home insurance from Gavin and again this was done very efficiently.

Yes, I'm now in my new home, and much is due to Gavin's advice and help.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

We needed to repay the capital sum on our "interest-only" tracker mortgage that was coming to full term. Being retired we were letting our property and enjoying the rental income and wished for this to continue. After discussing various solutions we decided to re-mortgage with another provider. As we were living overseas, options were limited, especially as our new product would essentially be a "BTL" mortgage.

How has Gavin Torpey helped you?

Given our objectives combined with our rather unusual circumstances, it wasn't an easy task however Gavin thoroughly researched the market for the right product and identified a lender who perfectly matched our requirements. Against a background of rapidly accelerating interest rates, Gavin worked swiftly to obtain an offer in order that we could secure the most preferential rate. The acceptance process however was extremely complicated because of our specific location overseas however Gavin worked tirelessly and helped tremendously in overcoming any difficulties in a timely manner and all was resolved to secure our new mortgage.

A definite YES. 100%.

What could they have done better?

I struggle to think of anything. Gavin really went "above and beyond" when many, I believe, would simply have accepted defeat.

Gavin was first recommended to us by the Estate Agent as two other advisers we had talked to couldn't get us the mortgage we needed.

How has Gavin Torpey helped you?

Gavin went the extra mile of getting us our first mortgage on a house at a time when my job situation was difficult as I was in a temporary contract. Two other advisors weren't able to get us the mortgage we needed, but Gavin really came through for us. He managed to get our mortgage with a major lender, and even got us a very good rate. The whole process has been great with good communication from Gavin and we felt reassured at every point. Gavin has since helped us select building and content insurance, a remortgage, and now has just secured us a new mortgage for a different property.
