James was quick to understand our situation. After the first meeting he quickly e-mailed an annual expenses questionnaire. At our second meeting he was able to show from a spread sheet our likely cash flow for the future. He gave some useful advice on options for reducing our inheritance tax liabilities and investment strategies.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My portfolio was growing. Banks and Building Societies were no longer offering advice. I needed ongoing help and advice from someone I could trust. My close friend was able to recommend.

25-years ago when I was made redundant and needed advice on financial matters. James was then recommended to me and I've been with him ever since. Not much advice during the past couple of years as first I had major surgery so was out of action and this year I've been severely flooded and again out of action insofar as financial planning is concerned.

The need to have sound investment advice.

How has James Craw helped you?

He introduced us to a particular investment platform and explained its mode of operation. We discussed with his guidance the advantages, and otherwise, of the levels of risk. He introduced us to the relevant website and assisted us using it when we encountered any uncertainty.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Not quite. Initially there was a good boost to our early investment but as for many others the unfavourable economic situation and Covid issues wein the past year or so reduced the value. Recently it has been recovering but the total value remains below our initial investment.

James made sure at all times I understood what he was telling me, he took the time to understand what I felt I needed, and where I was going with my life, nothing was done at a rushed pace, everything was looked into and discussed fully. The end advice from James was to keep doing what I was doing with my finances, Just put away a bit more if I could afford to. I feel the whole process was not about what he could earn out of me, but what was best for me and my pensions. Bless him, he even knew my cats names.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a plan to have my investments managed by an honest financial advisor and have them grow healthily year on year. When the time was right for me, I wanted to have a healthy pot to enable some of it to be released to fund a project I had in mind.

How has James Craw helped you?

James Craw gave me sound advice along the way and manged to build up a healthy pension pot which helped me successfully accomplish my project. The project was to purchase a classic car, upgrade the garage by painting the garage floor, install new LED lighting, add better tooling and a hydraulic lift to help me when doing routine maintenance on the cars. I now "HAVE IT ALL" thanks to the advice given to me.

Although a troubled time in the investment markets in 2020, the outcome I was hoping for was achieved brilliantly.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Received a lump sum and wished to make the most of it. Need to invest wisely to pay for husband's care - long term deteriorating medical condition which is fully self funded for care. Lack of any basic knowledge on how to invest on my part coupled with knowledge of poor return from bank accounts or similar.

How has James Craw helped you?

Reassured that we had sufficient funds to put some in higher risk areas to maximise return without jeopardising living standard. Showing future projections if funds are accessed at current rate.

Yes, we had good advice and are now able to draw down some funds when needed.

I'm not sure I understand how the Advisor is paid even though it has been explained to me.
