I initially contacted Harj through reviews I had read on a financial advisor site.

How has Harj Gill helped you?

Harj has worked very hard, often in his own time, to try to secure a mortgage or push through a life cover policy, or researching the best options for me. Because of his hard work, it has provided with some peace of mind to get on with my own work. I do feel a little guilty when I get emails and responses late into the evening when he has been trying to tie up an issue or complete a task. It is likely we will venture into other areas such as inheritance planning as time goes on.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, very much so. Harj has worked very hard and over and beyond to help me in quite a few areas of finance. Initially this was with financial planning and investment and more laterally securing mortgages at a very difficult time and arranging life cover policies and income protection also.

What could they have done better?

I, honestly, Cannot fault Harj. He will work incredibly hard to deliver what has been discussed and agreed.

Extremely efficient in clarifying my needs and providing a quote however as my enquiry was only relating to a relatively small amount from a private personal pension the costs for advice were too high in comparison so I had to go elsewhere for advice. This would not put me off dealing with Harj again as he was very pleasant and helpful

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I became aware that older personal pensions taken out much earlier in my career were inflexible and poorly performing.

How has Harj Gill helped you?

Harj review my existing personal pension policies some of which were clearly outdated and offered poor growth. These included sums contracted out from SERPS and older workplace related schemes. This review seemed thorough and inevitably took time. He recommended a consolidation into a single platform portfolio through Aviva which then allowed investment through various fund managers. Whilst it appeared that the fees for the review process, consolidation, and then ongoing management were high, this has been far outweighed by the growth the portfolio showed both prior to and during the pandemic. It transformed the sums held enabling me to consider early retirement, something I had not thought feasible only a few years earlier. Harj helped review my plans to commence retirement, including access of a portion of the plan for the lump sum which paid off balance of mortgage and other loan, and creation of a regular moderate monthly pension drawdown payment. All processes took a little time as back room teams reviewed his recommendations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance, and that it was appropriate for my needs. Subsequently there is an ongoing annual review process with Harj available if my needs were to change in the interim.

Harj's involvement transformed my personal pensions to the point where I could afford to take early retirement, something that would have been inconceivable even 5 years earlier.

What could they have done better?

Difficult to say. I could argue for a lesser fee, but value for money is much more important than cheapest is best!

At 55, I wanted to release 25% from my pension pots to clear my remaining mortgage.

How has Harj Gill helped you?

On reaching 55 years in March, I decided to use the opportunity to get 25% tax free cash release from my pensions to pay off my mortgage. After initially trying to navigate the procedure myself through the Pension Wise website, I realised I needed financial help to achieve my goal. I saw Sandringham offering their services on the website, so I contacted them by email. Harj Gill subsequently called, and I briefed him the rough outline of my plan. Harj was clear and concise from the outset of the opportunity I had to plan out my later years and I felt comfortable enough to accept a first meeting at my address. From this meeting I instantly felt at ease and in the right hands to not only get the funds required to pay the mortgage, but to then get my overall financial position in good order based on my circumstances. The information required and the questions that needed answering took time and deliberation, but the time was well spent, and I got from the meeting clear path options and a good understanding of where I was and where I needed to be. Harj was quite faultless in him explanations from start to finish, with “layman’s terms” on hand when required. I decided on certain answers and decisions he required, then had a further meeting at home to conclude my financial position and agree to terms and costs from Sandringham. Harj consolidated my various pensions under a new company. The funds were paid to my account and my mortgage paid off. The remaining 75% is now with a reputable company and I have access to Sandringham’s Wealth Platform to check on my financial performance as and when needed, and I am continuing with their financial guidance. Overall, I feel Harj has worked extremely hard on my behalf, given sound advice, has presented it very well, and with clear indications of their costs. I made the right choices, at the right time, with the right help. Anyone requiring advise on their pension, or are planning for their retirement, look no further than Sandringham. Grahame Partridge.

I am absolutely impressed by with the service I received from Harj Gill regarding consolidating my pensions. The expertise and attention to detail with which he has handled my financial affairs could not be faulted. I have been trying for a few years to sort out my pensions and wasted a lot of time with a couple of other financial advisers who did not complete the task and never kept me updated. So, it was a breath of fresh air when I found the contact details for Harj on Pension Wise. From the first contact he was so friendly and professional. He organised a meeting promptly at time suitable for me and if he was unable to make an appointment or was going to be late, he would let me know. He was truly interested in my needs, circumstances, preferences and gave great advice. He always explained everything thoroughly and I never feel uncomfortable asking questions or expressing my opinion. He answered all my questions fully and in a manner I can understand. It took a while for my pension consolidation to be sorted as my previous pension company were difficult to deal with and kept delaying things, but Harj was so patient and saw it through which I really appreciate. He constantly kept me updated via email, phone calls and meetings. With my previous pension I was not able to do pension drawdown which I wanted to do so I can do some house renovations. My dream was always to convert my attic into a walk-in-wardrobe and by Harj arranging for my pension to be consolidated into a new investment I am finally able to do this. I was investigating the feasibility of retiring early and making a judgement on the wisdom of doing so.

How has Harj Gill helped you?

Having decided to look into the feasibility of taking early retirement I approached a number of financial advisors and ran my pension and retirement plans by them. I decided to go forward with Harj as he was the keenest and most willing to spend some time talking to me without any commitment having been made. A face to face meeting was easily arranged at my home. During the meeting Harj explained how my plan would work in practice, and answered my many questions. He then took away detailed information and figures to produce a report. The report included detailed number crunching and projections and gave me confidence to proceed. At all stages of the process Harj has been quick to respond to emails and answer any further questions. When a problem occurred as a result of a mistake by my pension provider Harj was very swift and effective in getting the matter resolved. I am glad to have Harj as my financial advisor and would be happy to recommend him.

Yes. As a result of the work done by Harj and the advice given by him I have proceeded with my plan for early retirement. My drawdown pension is in place and is operating as it should.

Feedback on Harj Gill, Sandringham Financial Partners 1. Initial Enquiry I made an online enquiry through a government recommended portal and Harj was the first to get back to me, a very speedy response which in my opinion is always a positive sign. 2. First contact Right from the outset Harj was very professional and courteous. He engaged with my brother and I quickly and we both felt very comfortable to move forward with our equity release plan with him. Harj demonstrated expertise in this field and even though he provided advice, he never made us feel as though we were being pressurised. We made all of the decisions but taking his valuable guidance into account. 3. Organising your meeting Our meetings with Harj were via Zoom because of the constraints of the pandemic. Harj was always prompt and professional. The meetings were informal but also very constructive – Harj is a very likeable individual and we felt at ease talking to him throughout the whole equity release process. 4. Points being addressed in the first and subsequent meetings Harj would always respond to any issues we had either immediately or very promptly after we raised them. He is solutions focussed and Harj always managed to provide options for us to go away and consider. This is very different to other IFAs I have previously met. 5. Were your questions answered Quite simply, yes, without fail and very promptly. Any questions or concerns we had were answered or fears allayed at all stages of the process. Harj is extremely knowledgeable in the equity release arena and he managed to provide numerous options for us throughout the process. In the end we obtained a deal that was significantly better than our original expectations. 6. Was the advice you received understandable and in line with what you expected Yes we understood his advice at all times – Harj is courteous but clear and concise in providing advice. We never had a feeling that our time was being wasted. Our equity release process was legally complex because of a simultaneous change of property title. Harj kept us informed at all stages of the process and even became very engaged in chasing the solicitors so that the whole process did not drag on further than necessary. If it was not for Harj this transaction would have taken even longer to complete. We were very grateful for his involvement and interventions. 7. Would you recommend Harj Gill to others who need Independent Financial Advice I would have no hesitation in recommending Harj Gill to anyone seeking Independent Financial Advice. Harj is technically very knowledgeable in Equity Release. Harj is a very warm, courteous individual with strong integrity and honesty, a great professional and a real credit to his profession. Our current mortgage was finishing and remortgaging was necessary as our plan to repay the mortgage in total was not yet possible due to delays in our business plan. Our current lender was unable to extend the term due to our age. We had approached a number of lenders and advised that due to our age and lack of monthly private pension (this was currently tied up in property) a normal mortgage was not possible, despite the fact we were still working and earning more than enough per month to cover repayment costs. Additionally, our property backs onto a public house which a number of Equity Release Lenders would not consider. One lender we approached suggested we try Unbiased, a group of financial advisers, which we did, and we were contacted by Harj Gill of Sandringham. From the outset, we felt comfortable with Harj as our adviser. Due to Covid 19, no meetings in person took place with most of our dealings dealt with by phone, although we did have one zoom meeting. We did not feel this had any detrimental effect. Harj ran us through a detailed appraisal of what we required and it soon became apparent that only a handful of lenders would be able to help. In the end, we had three options. Our main requirement was our ability to make monthly mortgage payments and to have a reasonable exit penalty, if any, for when we were in a position to pay off the mortgage in its entirety. Harj achieved this. The whole process took some 5 months and we have recently completed on our mortgage. The choice of mortgage from our three options was entirely ours - Harj just gave us the information and we made the decision. He did not try and influence us in any way. We always felt at ease with Harj and had faith that he would come up with a satisfactory deal, which he did. He understood our requirements and did not pursue avenues which would not be acceptable to us. He was thorough in his advice, as was the whole Sandringham process. We were kept informed of developments as they occurred. We have no difficulty in wholeheartedly recommending Harj Gill to others requiring financial advice.

Harj has been a fantastic help in navigating the tricky and red tape filled worlds of Mortgage applications (especially Help to Buy!). I needed advice on how to best protect my hard earned nest egg whilst providing a secure income.

Harj researched the most suitable funds available to meet my needs and I gave 2 of these a try. He explained that all investment opportunities carry a risk of not achieving their projected goals but given a fair wind they would expect to do so. The proviso is " in the long term".

No. I have picked a very tough time to start investing in funds and had hoped expertise would manage things better than I could. My adviser was diligent and worked hard for me throughout and I have no complaints.

What could they have done better?

Perhaps considered more my age when embarking on this course of action. Have I got the luxury of "long term"? Fit as a fiddle but commencing this at 75 who knows?
