What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted to see if Equity Release was a way of resolving some debt issues and paying for some home improvements.

How has Phillip Kerley helped you?

He arranged Equity Release which completed quickly and without a lot of fuss.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes I’m able to pay off my debt and make the improvements to my house. I’m also able to replace my very old car.

What could they have done better?

I can’t think of anything.

The markets have been tough, and it is hard to say outcomes have been were I would want them. However, Phil’s advice has put me in a better position to understand the fluctuations. I am extremely happy to have an advisor who gives it warts and all!

A difficult one to answer. Finding investments that only go up, would be great. But seriously, I am not going to make up something Phil is not performing at just to answer this question. He’s doing a great job. Thanks Phil?

I found Phil's details on the Equity Release Council's website and from the start he was professional, informative, friendly and he found me the product I was looking for. I felt I could trust him to handle my Equity Release in a good way, which he ultimately did.

Most important fo all is that he talks a language I can understand the financial jargon world can be a scarey one.

Not yet I lost £23,000 in the last financial year due to marketing conditions - war in Ukraine etc but I am hoping this will change over the coming months, we have agreed to have regular review statement and discussion if appropriate

Julie, Thank you for your review and i can understand that the review reflects the current market and not the advice given. As promised, i have been keeping a close watch on your current arrangements and the investments have recovered slightly in your favour. I will email you seperately with the value. We are experiencing very extreme market conditions, and if we had not made changes last year, matching the investments to your detailed risk rating your value could have been much lower at this stage. It is in these tough market conditions that people panic and crystalise a loss, when in fact they should be investing and taking advantage of the low market. If you had Crystalised the reduced value of your investment and put that money in to cash at a rate of 0.5% interest, with Inflation at around 9% would mean your net loss would be -8.5% with no chance of recovery. The underlying investments are medium to long term and as promised we will look at this on a monthly basis, but as i mentioned above, since we spoke last week there has already been a possitive increase. I had inherited some money and was due to retire. I also had some shares in a fund of which I was not happy with the service they gave me.

Phil is a very personable person who explained all my options with clarity. He has put my funds in ethically sound companies, which is important to me. He also gave me advice on buy to let property and all the tax implications.
