I retired in 2017 and needed advise about my pension pot.

How has David Holland helped you?

David introduced me to the invest company and guided me through the entire process of choosing the right investment strategy. All his explanations were easy to understand and I was feeling save with decisions I made. Dave continued to advice me during all the time from my retirement. However, I had all the information to stay in control of my portfolio.

Very helpful at the first meeting spelt out what needed to be done. Took away copies of the pension documents so as to look at them in closer detail so as to be able to give me an idea of the figures regarding the pensions. Further meetings took place when the final figures were arrived at which were all conducted in a clear and concise way. I was very impressed as to the way all the information was put over in that it was easy to understand.

My Lifestyle pension was losing value as it was geared by the provider towards annuity and I needed advice to switch funds in order to gear it towards drawdown.

I quit the job without securing the new job and did not know what would be the best option for me to take regarding pension. A friend of mine recommended him to me and I decided to obtain a support from an financial advisor.

How has David Holland helped you?

David carefully listnened to me telling my circumstance, my plan for the near future and my health, asked me about my financial status (the fund in my pension pots, the amont of savings, value of my house and so on) and checked my appetite for risks. With all the relevant information he gathered from me and managing companies of my pension funds, he investigated various options and provided me his recommendation. After my agreement to the recommendation, he's been carrying out transferring pension funds to a single platform which is best for me. During the process, I asked him a lot of basic questions and he always answered the questions clearly and promptly and I appreciated it. As I didn't have much understanding of pensions or didn't know where to start and what to check by myself, his investigation and recommendation helped me understand what options I had with pros and cons and make a decision as to what to do with the pensions.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. In particular, he's been dealing with the pension manageing company with which some of ex-colleagues of mine are having a huge problem to get any response.

What could they have done better?

One minor thing is that although he took notes when I told him my schedule being away, he seemed to had lost the notes so that I had to repeat it. It's trivial and doesn't impact on main things, it'd have been better if the notes had been kept in the clear place.

I valued his advice and the options given. He was always at the end of the phone and kept me informed during all the process of transferring my pension. Any problems etc he would sort out and get back to me by return. I always felt I was in good hands.

As far as I was concerned he could have not done any better. Any problems that there was came from where I was transferring the money from and it was always sorted out for me by Dave. Initially to advise on how to invest some inheritance - not a large amount, but they took a lot of trouble.

How has David Holland helped you?

I have very little to invest but Globe IFA have always looked after me very carefully and in recent years David Holland has been hugely helpful with his advice on Equity Release, making sure that I am with the best provider and changing when appropriate.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, so far - though my wish to extend my Equity Release has been stalled right now as our building is caught up in the cladding crisis. David has been very helpful - as far as possible - and I am sure will continue to help me once the cladding is fixed and I am once more able to ask for further Equity Release.

Nothing - I am not the best at managing money and they have been very helpful for a number of years - firm when they need to be but always sympathetic and with positive ideas.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Advice on pension pot having retired.

How has David Holland helped you?

By spending considerable effort analysing multiple pension plans that date from 1984 onwards, understanding their relative performance, terms, conditions etc. Then recommending consolidation in a single plan that allows a 'drawdown' approach. Also an excellent cash flow projection over 20-30 years as an indication of how a drawdown approach will be possible before funds are exhausted.

Yes. I now have a single fund that is easy to track, but also received valuable advice that one pension plan should stay with the current provider until maturity to avoid being financially penalised.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had neglected my financial affairs for several years and wanted some advice around my investments and financial planning. Specifically, I wanted advice on transferring some investments from the US to the UK, and a strategy for managing those investments going forwards in line with my life plans (including a career break) and my long-term financial goals.

Dave helped me to understand my financial goals and recommended that I move my investments to a discretionary investment manager in the UK. He then set up meetings with several investment managers that he thought could provide the service I needed, and joined me in those meetings to make sure that the managers understood my needs. I was dissatisfied with the performance of my Personal Pension and on recommendation contacted this IFA. The analysis and assistance I received to move to a new provider and eradicate problems with the previous ppp was exceptional. The issue regarding “C’s” excessive pension contributions was pointed out in my original report and help was offered to resolve this, but I understood that “C” was addressing it with his employer. This recent review highlighted that the problem has been aggravated by “C’s” recent pay rise. I have been a client of John Pickles at Globe IFA for 30 years or more. In the last 10 years or so, David Holland has been involved in advising me as well. Both John and David have advised me on savings and investments regarding my pension lump sum, various monies from inheritances and latterly proceeds of the sale of my London property.

I have been a client of John Pickles, a colleage of David's, for over 30 years. I have worked with David for the past ten years or so. My initial contacts focussed more on investment advice including longer term pension planning. More recently, after retirement, david has helped me with the efficient crystallisation of a number of pension products and reinvestiment for the longer term together with advice on Inheritance Tax optimistaion.

How has David Holland helped you?

He helped to consolidate a number of different investments into a single investment platform and has provided advice and support with regard to that platform over the years. He advised and helped me in applying for fixed lifetime allowance protection on my pensions and advised on ceasing contrinbutions to my company pension. He advised and assisted in crystallising my various pension plans focussing on tax free allownace withdrawls and setting up a range of deawdown policies.

Very much so. The investments and policies David recommendaed are performing well and pretty much as expected, given market performance.

I couldn't say if he could have done anthing much better than he did. Some of the dealings with my pension providers took quite a bit of time, but that was due more to the providers internal delays rather than antything due to David's work.
