Transfers hampered by extreme inefficiency of Scottish Widows. But Tom managed to contact the group CEO of SW which finally pushed them into doing their job - albeit after over 5 months!

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Reaching an age some years ago when I needed advice about my various private pensions.

How has Tom Fawcett helped you?

At the time the only option was to set up annuities which he organised for me. He also advised me regarding dividing and investing other money inherited plus the money left over as a result of my husband and I separating, selling our family home and purchasing 2 separate smaller properties in cheaper areas.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes although I wish it had been a few years later when I could have drawn down some of the pensions capital instead of it all being set up in annuities.

What could they have done better?

Nothing. Tom was very helpful.

Explained thoroughly (sometimes repeatedly!) for my benefit and has always been quick to respond whenever I have questions or my circumstances / investments change.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I think so! In the often confusing modern world with increasing uncertainties in just about every aspect of life, the peace of mind and trust I have established with Tom is a huge burden off my shoulders. Could my investments have grown bigger, faster elsewhere? we will never know.

I cannot think of anything. A first class service.

I was coming up to retirement and was disappointed with the potential annuity income especially when including my wife and index linking the income from my pension and other investments

Put a plan together where the income is not impacted when sharing with my wife - also set up an ISA for each of us

Initially yes but the global financial issues have hampered its growth over the last couple of years but because the investment is ultimately spread across a large number of institutions and companies the impact is less than had I left the funds in my old pension

I've used a financial advisor since 1976 when I was moved from a final salary pension scheme to a personal pension scheme by the company I was working with at the time.

I was unhappy with the advice I was receiving from my pension advisor at the time and moved to Friends Provident who Tom was working for at the time. He later became an independent FA and I moved with him.

Tom showed us the options available and worked with us to set up a facility that would allow us to minimise our fiscal commitments while providing an excellent opportunity to grow the fund as our income improved

From the fund's perspective we have. Our incomes have not grown as we would have expected which is not a fault of Tom's at all.

Have known Tom for may years to many to count. Tom was to at Schroeder when we first met, and when I retired had no hesitation to ask him for help for advice for my pension investments.

How has Tom Fawcett helped you?

Over the years first rate. Both my wife and myself have had and still have a comfortable retirement for the last fifteen years. Hopefully for may more years to come.

Yes.

What could they have done better?

Given the circumstances of the past fifteen years, with the recession about ten to twelve years ago and covid and Ukraine today. I could not see how Tom or the company would have done much better.

Tom has been able to advise from time to time to move and shift to the funds to generate better value

Yes, recently the funds have picked up value compared to the rerun seen over the past 10-12 years

Periodic proactive review from his side and advise switch to the right funds , sectors, as opposed to be prompted / asked for a review. By the time I get to know the value, many times in the past , the value has already gone down prior to the switch

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Not knowing what to do with my finances and felt I needed expert investment advice. I also needed advice on my pension. Tom came highly recommended through a colleague.

How has Tom Fawcett helped you?

Tom explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. He asked many questions and I felt he was very thorough and thoughtful about my personal situation. Tom was always quick to respond and would visit me whenever I felt I needed to see him to go over my portfolio.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Having used Tom for a number of years my investments have grown to a level I feel very satisfied with and I feel confident in his recommendations.

What could they have done better?

Maybe a regular 6 monthly date in the diary for a review. But on the whole I know I can call Tom and he has always been available to me.
