What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Following the sudden death of my husband, who had saved hard all his life and amassed a substantial amount of money. I and my son knew we needed professional help and advice to manage the money. We certainly didn’t want to squander it away.

Darren, right from the start, has been very sympathetic and understanding. He has been very patient with me, I was and still am grieving for my husband, and at times felt that I was in the middle of a whirlpool.

Huge support around pension , when to stop paying superannuation and help with getting pension, advice re what lump sum to take and very accurately predicting what my retirement monthly income would be.

Yes. Darren allows me to take things at my pace - he set me up with a great mortgage advisor as well and continues to advise and support me regarding inheritance tax, capital gains and my properties.

What could they have done better?

Darren is very responsive, explains things clearly when I am out of my depth, guides and advises rather than telling me what to do. I make ultimate decisions. Feels very trustworthy which is paramount. I have been completely happy with the support I have received.

In general yes, the investments are largely as predicted

Not sure, he's always been available when needed, but definitely not pushy or tried to sell us schemes which we did not ask for. All information and costs have been easy to understand.
