What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had a pension pot that was basically doing nothing so was looking for a way to invest it and hopefully make it grow.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I have had a financial adviser since 1985 when my ex-husband and I had a mortgage to consider and he had works pensions to deal with. I t was this adviser, Colin, who recommended we work with Intelligent pensions when my mother died and I had my portion of her estate to invest.

Joe is approachable, punctual, thorough, considerate of my personal situation and how it may change or has changed and how this has been reflected or might be reflected inmy pension performance. He is patient and good at answering my queries in an understandable way and I trust him.

When I retired my financial advisor recommended Intelligent Pensions and I trust my advisor implicitly. I have known him for 35 years - the previous few turbulent years have proven him correct.

Numerous pensions in place; wanted to make them easier to manage, and to make best possible use of them.

How has Joe Sheridan helped you?

Provided advice/assistance with what to do with each of the pensions i have in place, and set up an investment portfolio for the funds that have been made available.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

The sole reason for being unable to give a '5-star' rating in the previous section (i gave '4-stars') is that, as a relatively new client, i have yet to reach the point where i start to benefit in a tangible way from the advice and assistance i've been given so far. I'm aware that, for the first couple of years, there will be little by way of tangible benefit so, in that respect, yes - i have seen the outcome i expected.

What could they have done better?

So far, everything has run very well - no complaints.

Had been with I P for a few years and the previous advisor retired and Joe took over.

How has Joe Sheridan helped you?

He and I meet annually to discuss how my pension pot is doing and he makes recommendations as to what level of risk I should be prepared to take to achieve my retirement goals.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Well I’m a little disappointed at the lack of growth in the pot over the last few years. He assures me it’s doing well in comparison with the rest of the market, and that it is hitting most of the objectives, and obviously, the turmoil in the industry has not helped.

What could they have done better?

That is down to the personnel who recommend and buy and sell the shares that constitute my retirement pot. Don’t think Joe has any input in that regard

Investing is not an exact science and whilst the last couple of years have proved to be difficult with a combination of rising interest rates, rising inflation and geopolitical events, overall ensuring that you are in the right asset classes for the level of investment risk you are comfortable taking is important in being able to achieve your financial needs and objectives. There will always be downturns in the markets, but keeping believe in the reasons why to invest is important and enable you to ensure your pension pot will provide you with the income you require in retirement.
