From initial conversations Martin has advised us about all our options. He has thoroughly discussed and explained every option, it’s pros and cons and helped us make our final decision. He has also enabled us secure a mortgage at more beneficial rates compared to other mortgage brokers as he got the deal secured in a day!!!! Yes a day!!! He was willing to go beyond what you would expect from a broker and really took the time out to explain any queries we had along the way. Martin and his team worked the weekend to secure a deal which was pulled on the Monday. Given the turbulent market, they decided to make sure their clients got the best deals on offer, by working and accessing deals that they felt would otherwise be lost. They were right.

We were looking for a mortgage as first time buyers. It took us a long time to find a house but Martin was always responsive when we had questions, for about 18 months through COVID and the more early 2023 hike in interest rates.

How has Martin Rayner helped you?

Martin always provided us with lots of different scenarios, calculating for us our monthly costs with different lenders at different LTVs and interest rates. He went above and beyond by responding to emails and messages out of hours and on the weekends. We managed to find a product that works for us when we eventually found a house.

In a city like London, it’s nice to finally meet someone who really looks out for you and goes beyond to help you. What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My recent experience of having Martin support my search for a new mortgage was fantastic, and frankly astounding, given the terrible macro-economic turmoil which was unfolding. I was working with a different broker, when the mortgage markets started to turn. I became disheartened that I could achieve what I needed to, given the mortgage products were shrinking almost daily.

How has Martin Rayner helped you?

Some friends suggested Martin to me, and I offered him the opportunity (challenge) to help me secure the best mortgage I could. I can honestly say that Martin worked tirelessly, quickly and was very responsive throughout the process. My email queries were always answered promptly, he was very "on it" to get my application through as soon as we could and pin down the best mortgage rate, with the product which best met my needs. He kept me up to date, and prompted me when required to satisfy the mortgage company. He managed my expectations with respect to timeframe, and equally helpfully, managed the expectations of the estate agent.

However, in monetary terms, I have to highlight the fact that Martine saved me almost £400.00 per month on my mortgage repayments, in comparison to the mortgage the previous broker was able to secure. I can't recommend Martin highly enough.

I was looking for a mortgage advisor who wasn't tied in to any particular estate agency or lender but could search across the market to find a deal which was best for my circumstances. I spoke with a few different agents but as soon as I spoke with Martin I knew he was the right person to help me. To start the process, we had numerous calls with other mortgage advisors and they all seemed to be in rush and only interested in numbers. However, Martin was different. From the initial appointment, he was incredibly helpful and explained all the "property jargons" that we had no idea of. As the first time buyer, we didn't even know what questions to ask, but Martin explained every step of the process and made it super clear for us. Our mortgage application wasn't the easiest, with the gifted fund coming from abroad. Martin advised us with a full list of documents to prepare so we could prepare them in good time ahead of the application. We have just exchanged on our new family home, and without a doubt, this would not have happened without the help we received from Compton Financial. Martin’s due diligence, advice and all-around hard work was core to our success. I could not be more complimentary to the service we received. Martin was pre-empting all of the additional information the underwriters required, and in doing so, our borrow position improved significantly, and we wasted no time in securing our mortgages. Yes, that is correct, mortgages and not Mortgage. We saw a dream home just before Christmas, and it was very much a “dream”, or so we thought. No way did we think we could ever afford to buy a house like this. From speaking to Martin, he explained we could remortgage our current home releasing equity with a Let to Buy Mortgage in which the funds obtained would go towards the new purchase. This doubled our overall budget, but we now have two long-term properties, which will increase in value every year. The other huge win is that the rental income will also be like another salary, so will pay the Let to buy payments and more by a considerable margin. If Carlsberg did Mortgage brokers..
