I started my career as a Paraplanner after graduating from Cardiff University, where I obtained a First Class Honours in Economics. Paraplanning assisted me in obtaining valuable experience in building financial solutions requiring key attention to detail. After qualifying, I started providing advice to both private and corporate clients. My particular areas of interest of Inheritance Tax Planning, Retirement Planning and Corporate Financial Planning. My client base includes: business owners looking to optimise their financial position; senior execs and professionals looking to save for the future and minimise their tax burden; those approaching retirement, or in the process of retiring, seeking reassurance on how they should use their pensions to fund their retirement plans; as well as those looking to pass on their wealth to their family upon death in a tax-efficient manner; or those who have unfortunately lost loved ones looking for advice on how to utilise their inheritance. I take great personal pride in knowing that clients have chosen to trust me to help them manage their financial affairs. The best part of the job for me though, is hearing the stories of my clients and how they have got to where they are in life. Every client is different and I find each story truly fascinating. I believe that the key to being a good adviser is not just having a deep level of technical knowledge, but knowing how to communicate this to clients in plain English. After all, if you do not understand what we are recommending, how can you be confident with our recommended solutions. As an industry, we have been guilty of using too much jargon. The most important trait that an adviser should have though, is the ability to listen. Without listening, how can we understand your objectives, what makes you 'tick' and what may potentially keep you up at night. From here, we can then discuss with you solutions that solve your bespoke objectives, rather than shoehorn you into a generic solution. When I'm away from the office, you'll probably find me either playing or watching one of a number of sports. The value of investments can fall as well as rise. You might get back less than you invested. You should only consider these products if you are willing to take some risk with your capital.
