We recently had the pleasure of working with Louis who provided invaluable advice and support when it came to improving my family's financial situation. Several years prior to retirement I found it essential to get professional advise to manage the significant sums involved & planning required to minimise tax.

Louis has provided advice on releasing capital from private pensions & other investment products in the most tax efficient way.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Prior to the pandemic the investment strategy put in place was working very well & comfortably met my long term retirement objectives. Clearly over the last 3 years the markets have been at best flat, so things are tighter than expected. The current high inflation rate is exacerbating the situation.

What could they have done better?

Difficult to say. I think the investment strategy put in place is probably still valid. No one could have predicted Covid & the war in Ukraine. I guess my situation is typical of the majority of investors. I look forward to my next meeting with Louis to review whether or not anything needs to change.

Following some issues with a previous Financial Planner, we received exceptionally good reports regarding Penlife and we made a decision to move our investments to Penlife and have been associated with Louis since that time.

We have been with the company for many years and we're transferred to Louis when John Walker moved to a new role, our initial meeting was to plan for early retirement.

How has Louis Maddison helped you?

Since taking over from John Walker he has gone above and beyond to make the transfer seemless and has supported us both through a major medical issue even having meetings at the hospital and providing video footage to aid Diane's recovery. The little touches of cards and flower's were very much appreciated. Penlife have always looked after our finances and welfare very well and have allowed us to retire with confidence.

After previous experiece with my former financial adviser, I felt it was important to engage with Penlife who were recommended to me by a friend. The management of pension investments in particular is important to me and having professional competent oversight of these investments was a significant factor in my decison making.

Around 4 years.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Pretty much. Given market volatility in recent years, outcomes have been toned down somewhat. In short, I feel that Penlife have made the best of a bad job.

What could they have done better?

The advice received on a bridging loan from an extenal provider led to a degree of difficulty. I would not do further business with the loan broker concerned.

They were two-fold. There was an annual review of our investments and we wanted Louis's advice on where to withdraw a sum of money that we needed.

How has Louis Maddison helped you?

He talked through our current investments, he listened carefully to what we said about the withdrawals that we wanted to make and has already set that it train. He answered knowledgeably and reassuringly questions that we put to him about the arrangements to pass assets to our children upon our deaths.

Yes. The money that we asked for has been sent to us. We are happy with the investments that we have made and understand that their value can rise and fall but that long-term we have confidence in the decisions made at Penlife.

In the light of the COVID -19 Pandemic, Louis kept us advised regarding the returns on our investments bearing in mind that my wife and I were unable to meet Louis in the usual face to face way. He is a reliable and conscientious person who gives us accurate information and in an understandable format.

Louis has taken it upon himself to understand deeply my personal situation and my aspirations going forward. This he has done admirably such that I have absolute confidence in his ability to manage my account to ensure my requirements are met perfectly.

Yes, Louis has helped in dealing with some extremely tricky situations, caused by external parties such as HMRC.

Possibly but Covid has affected the markets. I’m pleased how my investment has recovered.

Perhaps pay more attention to detail and listening.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

My wife and I needed sound advice from a reputable financial adviser and who was locally based.

How has Louis Maddison helped you?

We have found Louis to be a very approachable person and has been well able to explain and keep track of our investment portfolio over the past 2/3 years.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We have certainly seen a very good outcome for 2019 although as a result of Coronavirus, our investments did take a slight dip, as expected but Louis has advised us subsequently that our portfolio position is improving and he has sent details to back this up.

What could they have done better?

We don't consider that Louis can do any more for us, he is extremely approachable and very respectful and we appreciate his assistance.
