We were looking to arrange a mortgage or equity release product for a recently finished house build, after material prices had increased exponentially post Covid.

My current fixed rate mortgage, also arranged by Carol, was coming to an end at the end of January. With the economic upheavals and interest rate hikes pending I contacted Carol to see what could be done to change early and try to avoid increases and problems.

How has Carol Brown helped you?

Carol has a wide knowledge and understanding of the market and ran me through options. I did not know you could arrange a mortgage ahead of time so rather than paying early repayment fees Carol was able to secure a mortgage in advance that will switch when my current rate ends. Carol was also able to arrange an advance payment to allow me to pay off a loan now saving money and wrapping the amount up into the new mortgage. This was all simple with Carol's assistance and saved me a lot of time and hassle that would have entailed from trying to explain what I wanted from multiple lenders.

Yes and more, my mortgage has been arranged with an affordable rate and the advance payment has been processed. I have not had to pay early settlement fees. Everything was done quickly which given recent events has saved me a lot of money and worry.

Honestly nothing, the website to upload information is easy to use and a welcome addition, contact was regular and Carol is always quick to respond to any queries.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

A buy-to-let mortgage was nearing its term, and we wanted to extend it/replace it. We needed someone local (during the Covid restrictions) and also someone who would deal with the matter quickly and confidentially.

How has Carol Brown helped you?

Carol was professional and efficient, without us needing to 'chase' her on progress. The 'company portal' was initially complicated, but once mastered, worked well (our lack of technical ability, rather than a problem) It enabled us to keep in touch with what was progressing.

The BTL was secured, and accepted.

What could they have done better?

On reflection, and any mortgage is a big financial investment, Carol carried out the work with good humour and an efficient work-rate, and bearing in mind the pandemic restrictions, it all worked well.
