Our mortgage deal was coming to an end and we needed help to find a deal that was right for us and affordable in the current climate. We were recommened Scott by a friend and we are glad that we took that adive and used Scotts services.
How has Scott Taylor-Barr helped you?
He found us the best 5 year mortgage deal with the best rate possible and constantly reviewed it for us in the months leading up to our deal at the time ending to make sure it was the best for us. I think the rate dropped 3 or 4 times over the period of first conatcting Scott and finding a deal and the old deal coming to an end. Scott also reviewed our insurances and protection and sorted us out with some policies that gave us better cover.

Yes, I think we go the best deal that we could have at the time of our old deal ending.
What could they have done better?
Short of fixing the mortgage markets in our favour there is not much else that Scott could have done for us.

Scott has continually helped keep my mortgage rates as low as possible, as well as giving advice about life insurance etc. Further to that, Scott has always been at the end of the phone to answer all my little questions and has never been phased (even if my contact has been out of hours).

Nothing (as far as I am aware). I obviously have extremely limited knowledge on all of this stuff so it’s important to feel comfortable with the person you’re dealing with, and that’s exactly what Scott has continually done.

Our mortgage had risen, and while on a variable rate it kept rising each month. At this point we were ready to remortgage and was given Scott's contact details by a friend.

Absolutely, Scott was attentive to my requirements and had a very good knowledge of the mortgage market plus a good network with lenders. This enabled him to access the best product for me, at a time when demand was very high and supply was very low. I could not have done it without him and would have missed out on my dream first home! Scott's advice and communication throughout was also excellent, as a first time buyer, he helped to demystify the process for me, which helped to ensure it was a smooth experience in what I know could otherwise have been a very daunting and stressful time. Scott also helped me find the right level of mortgage protection, and he did so in a very objective and impartial way. He listened to my needs and scoured the market to find the most suitable option, providing the cover I need at the price I was comfortable with.
What could they have done better?
I can't think of any areas of improvement. what I really appreciated was the level and frequency of communication, Scott got the balance right between moving the process along, without feeling like I was being pushed faster than I wanted to go. This is a careful balance to strike and one that Scott achieved perfectly

I needed mortgage and financial advice after splitting up with my ex husband. Scott helped me and has given me amazing sound advice and is ever only a phone call or email away. We are very very lucky to have come across Scott. I am now happily married and Scott has helped us with many financial decisions. We could not do without him.

What could they have done better?
I might be wrong but I don’t remember getting much information about the solicitor that I would be using after scott had suggested using one that’s connected with Barclays will make it cheaper (in all fairness scott May have not known either). The only reason I mention this, was because I felt the company used were far too big so we lost the personal touch. This information would have been good to have known before hand as it’s not always the best Option going with the cheapest solictor. *Apologies if I did get given this information or if scott wouldn’t have known who would be selected. Otherwise nothing negative to say, total experience was a pleasure. Already passed details on to a friend.

Many thanks Alex! As regards the solicitor - the deal we selected included a free legal service, paid for and arranged by your new lender, as part of the deal. Whilst I agree that a local solicitor would have given a better service; this would have been a cost to come from your own pocket with no contribution from the lender. I hope that helps explain how/why we ended up dealing with the solicitor that we did. You're already in my diary to contact in three years time too!
