Jonathan Tyler

Jonathan is a director of the firm and head of our Commercial and Property departments. He also heads the firm’s Professional Negligence team. His work principally involves commercial litigation often with a property bias. He acts for commercial landlords and tenants, businesses large and small and individuals. He joined the firm shortly after its foundation, previously undertaking commercial and property litigation at a medium-sized west end firm. Jonathan is approachable, pragmatic and commercially minded and applies these qualities to his litigation work. He has been described as a ‘no nonsense’ and ‘tenacious’ litigator but recognises sometimes a softer touch is required. Jonathan’s view is that a full analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of a dispute is essential at the outset. This will often determine the course of action his clients should take. He will not hesitate to recommend immediate court action and aggressive litigation where required but will equally advise early settlement or ADR if more appropriate. He values the firm’s clients and their loyalty to the firm. He promotes a strong client care ethic across the departments, encouraging his teams to listen to their clients, understand their needs and make no assumptions about their objectives. He recognises the importance of communication and managing client expectations.
