After some senior management changes and several restructuring rounds, the company I worked for became an unpleasant working environment. It felt everything I did was wrong and everything I said was challenged, leaving me doubting my worth. Their actions took the joy out of my role within a company I had loved. After securing a major contract, I hoped the new management team would recognise my value to the team (over the years I had earned awards for my contribution). Instead my achievements were devalued, whilst others were rewarded for delivering less and against company deal guidelines. I was responsible for major household named accounts and had a strong reputation both internally and with clients. Since the new team arrived, the existing team started to leave, with only a small percentage remaining. They hired new people for the UK and Benelux, from a company they had all previously worked at, giving them some of the accounts and territories that belonged to me, substantially reducing my scope to be successful in future years. I asked a number of times for this to be reviewed. My requests were declined out of hand. I approached HR to ask for advise on how to best handle the situation. At the time I felt I had a good and honest relationship with HR. I had been unwell for some time and whist I had never asked for special treatment or taken a day off sick for my illness (I always took holidays for appointments/treatment). After seeking advice, things became much worse. Management publicly belittled me to my peer group and insisted they were invited to every client meeting and approved client emails before they were sent. It was suffocating, demoralising and made it challenging to function professionally. I began to question myself and double check everything. My line management started a process of questioning every single deal I had closed over the years and left me in no question, after a highly successful time with the company, I was no longer wanted or valued. The company wished to start a professional improvement plan process, which I appealed - they were in a hurry to get the process started and concluded with break neck speed. This is when I got in touch with LincsLaw. My health, outlook and confidence was badly impacted. Sally was easy to talk to and created a relaxed atmosphere. She explained points of 'concern' very well and communicated why some terms were potentially problematic. Sally acted with integrity through-out our meetings. As a result, certain terms were amended in favour of the employee and I do believe if it was not for Sally's thorough and conscientious approach the employer would not have made the necessary changes. I felt that the way I was being treated at work by my manager was unreasonable. I decided to call Sally for some advice as to whether this was the case or if I was just being a little sensitive.
