James O'Donnell

I have practiced commercial and corporate law for 16 years. I studied Law in my home city of Manchester before completing the final stage of my education at the Chester College of Law. I completed my training contract with a well-known regional firm and qualified as a Solicitor in 2005. Since then, I have built a solid reputation among individuals and businesses alike both in the local area and throughout the North West region. I have also built long standing relationships with a strong network of professionals with whom I works, in conjunction with my clients, allowing me to provide a holistic approach when advising clients. Upon qualification, I was head hunted by my former firm to join its Commercial and Property team. I was made a Partner within my first year there, making me one of the youngest partners to be appointed, at the age of 26. I remained a Partner and latterly, (following incorporation) a Director of that firm for 10 years before leaving to set up O’Donnell Solicitors in 2015 together my wife Rebecca O’Donnell also a Director of the firm. My practice is in Commercial and Corporate Law focusing on general Commercial and Commercial Property matters. I also advise in the area of Corporate and Commercial transactional matters including Corporate Finance, Business Asset Sales and Purchases, Merger and Acquisition work and restructuring. I also assist the firms Dispute Resolution department, in relation to disputes with a business or commercial angle. I am described as a ‘strong adversary in the broad spectrum of commercial law’. I adopt a fair, pragmatic, approach to negotiations but will also fight hard for his client(s) when required. I am renowned for my commercial awareness and being a canny strategist. I frequently accept instructions from new clients referred to me by existing clients and often by clients who have been on the other side of a transaction or legal matter. I am known as a tenacious lawyer in my fields.
