Daniel performed a forensic analysis of my pension schemes and their performance to show how they had increased over a long period. I was advised to retain two schemes which had guarantees well in excess of normal outcomes but to consolidate the rest. I have had more professional interaction with Daniel in two years than in 35 with established mutual pension providers. Very pleased with the depth of advice and the personal care.

Daniel was excellent. It was clear that the services offered were not a match for my needs and Daniel was honest and clear. Very clear and covered the required service and cost disclosures as one would hope. As an industry professional myself of nearly forty years standing I am not sure that Daniel quite grasped my own capability and knowledge and the emphasis he placed on myself as a client following the advise of TPO whereas I might choose to go in a different direction, is a concern. I fully understand the risks of transferring from a defined benefit arrangement and I also fully understand the caution with which advisers must approach advice in this area and the regulatory framework that correctly seeks to protect less informed investors. However, I also accept that this was an early discussion and Daniel has yet to establish a full fact find. The question is whether I am prepared to gamble paying a significant fee for advice that I might legitimately choose not to follow?

The two points above that I am not totally clear on were likely my fault, although I understand charges are based on a percentage of investment capital. Not having invested previously in this format there is a lot to take in. Also I have yet to fully read the terms sent to me by Daniel. At this point access to my funds will not be available until early next year, I am therefore right now looking at alternatives on offer. This may take a while to assess. I doubt I would be expected to commit to positive plans with TPO after half hour phone conversation.

Daniel actually "inherited" the original portfolio when TPO took over from my first FA. He then did a full re-assessment to make sure needs hadn't changed, then when we wanted to alter income from the portfolio, he was very helpful in advising and recommending changes as necessary. The portfolio was rebalanced effectively to give better returns whilst still being within the risk-group we were comfortable with.

At time of writing, portfolio is growing more than expected and we are happy with income generation to supplement my final-salary company pension.

Been with previous advisor for 10 years, and was lacking any forward planning. We invested, and took advice, but there was no plan, and as such it was difficult to judge what the prudence of one investment v another was. There was no context.

A significantly greater depth of professional insight and guidance. The creation of a plan, taking account of our investments, desires and prudent assumptions. We now have a 'model' that we can plan around. Advice on investment vehicles, level of risk, insurance cover, general mortgage planning etc. Being 'service' and advice led v product fee led has been significant. Professional, knowledgable, polite, helpful and supportive.

Too early to say, investments only just moved across to TPO. But the 'service' element has already made a great difference. And yes, having a financial model means we now have a better understanding of how long we have to plan on taking what level of risk, some stress testing and understanding of 'what if' scenarios and overall a much higher level of comfort that we have a cohesive plan that each investment contributes to (rather than a list of investments doing their own 'thing')

He is extremely proactive and always follows up in writing and with other stakeholders.
