We needed an adviser for help with investment and retirement planning.

He has provided excellent advice on many aspects of our investments and retirement planning. He always finds time to explain things thoroughly and to run through options. We feel he understands us well and provides a highly personalised service.

Yes our investments has performed very well over the years and we have received good advice as we transfer from work (investing) and retirement (drawdowns)

Leaving my long term employer and wanting to understand the best options for my pension and planning for my retirement.

What could they have done better?

Richard is very technically minded in terms of financial planning. I too am knowledgeable re financial matters, but he could perhaps spend more time making things simpler and easier to understand for my wife who is not a financial expert

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Richard has helped me during the tricky time when I was looking for the confidence to “pull the pin” and retire early as I had planned and then negotiating some difficult market conditions as Covid hit.

How has Richard Veal helped you?

Richard is a very helpful in breaking down issues into a series of manageable decisions. He takes time to listen and understand what my objectives and concerns are and then give tailored advice. He is careful to understand how much information I want and not overload our discussions with data. I now do all of my interactions with Richard virtually together with my wife. I worked in Financial Services but wife was a doctor so I particularly appreciate Richard carefully pitching the discussions at a level where we both get all the information and involvement we want without feeling any condescension or embarrassment.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, I feel very comfortable with the decisions made. Retirement is far from the end of the game and Richard has been invaluable in making me realise and understand how rapidly the pension environment is changing. Hopefully we will be “a long time retired” and this requires a different approach to risk appetite and investment than the more passive approaches seen historically. In Richard we have found a great partner to help plan the way forward.
