In 2002 when seeking our first mortgage arrangement. We knew John, his wife Sam and their family before this so already knew them well and had a sense of their professional and personal integrity.

How has John Turner helped you?

John has provided myself and my husband all financial advice over the past 21 years. This has been for mortgages, weighing up the pros and cons of having and then releasing a rental property, planning and starting a business and advice on future plans regarding pensions and how best to invest inheritance funds. I’m not a financially minded person and he explains things in terms that I understand.

Yes. We’ve managed to budget and plan for having the property and business we wanted. We’ve kept and then released a rental property from 2017-2022 just before house prices came down. John has secured several fixed mortgage deals for us, on a 2-yr basis, which has suited our circumstances. He has also invested monies obo our daughters in a manner we are happy with, in investments that we control until they turn 18, including top-up payments. He has also advised us on other financial matters e.g. other types/locations for savings, insurances, pension contributions etc.

Yes absolutely. We have had several mortgage renewals via John at rates/amounts that we are happy and comfortable with and are able to pay comfortably. We also have savings/investments in place for our two daughters that we are happy with - we wouldn't have known where or how to invest their money wisely and confidently had it not been for John's guidance.

We needed to arrange a new mortgage following our previous house sale, as well as seeking advice on savings accounts for our children. During our conversations we also discuss best prices/companies for e.g. Buildings & Contents Insurance, and also looked more long-term at our pension provision.

How has John Turner helped you?

He compared mortgage providers/deals based on our needs to see which was best for us including interest rates, amount/month, any incentives etc. He also spent a lot of time considering what options were best for investing a lump sum for our daughters.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes absolutely - we would have spent a lot of time (that we don't have) searching for the best mortgage deal for us with no real idea about whether it was any good or best for our circumstances. We are confident that with John's help and support we have got the best mortgage for us. Also re savings for our children - John advised us on what he thought was best, balancing an investment with an element of risk to try to secure the best return but also playing it a little bit safe.

What could they have done better?

Honestly there is nothing we can think of to improve on. John is always very helpful and professional, contacting us in good time to arrange future appointments (so is on top of when we need to have a review e.g. for a re-mortgage), and goes that bit further (to the main point of the meeting i.e. mortgage/savings) in discussing e.g. pension provision, which he knows is relevant but possibly not as immediately so, but doesn't touch on areas that are not relevant to us so we don't feel bombarded. He also demonstrates financial projections through visual aids e.g. graphs.
