An independent adviser can advise across a sufficiently diverse range of products to help meet a client’s objectives. They are in no way limited to products provided by companies they work for.

I've been advising clients since September 1997, working primarily around the cities of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Sunderland, basically Tyne and Wear. I've been in finance all my working life to some extent, ranging from the 'tea boy' at my first job in a bank aged just 19! through to 'mentoring' and supervising new advisers in their roles, and more recently directing my own IFA firm which I started in 2019. My particular areas of interest are investments and retirement provision, managing existing portfolios and inheritance tax planning, but I haven't forgotten my basic training of financial protection either, so I can advise on income replacement plans, critical illness cover and life cover, all from in independent basis. I have a very loyal client bank, which I'm appreciative of - client is king, and I've known many of mine for nearly 20 years, most have become friends. They range from people still building and contributing to their financial 'pot' to those now managing that pot for themselves and their families benefit. In my spare time I like to play music (and have even been on stage!) supporting my local music venue The Forum at Darlington, my home town. This is a 'not for profit' organisation which supports young musicians and bands and is also a key part of the local community. Its a great creative place to be and my daughter is now taking an interest in music, to add to her creative spirit. My primary aim when advising people is to ensure they are relaxed throughout the meetings. That way communication between us is free flowing and this I find is an environment where I can fully appreciate their requirements. Although I am advising them, which they'd expect, I work 'with' them, so they describe what they want and I provide a pathway to it. I'm a practical person too, so solutions are realistic, achievable and flexible, peoples situations do change afterall. The company is 'advice-led', meaning I won't facilitate someone's financial decision, if its not in their best interests, we won't let you make a mistake - another reason to at ease dealing with us.
