Roger went above and beyond to be of help even though it became apparent his services would not pertain to my situation. He continued to share any information that may be of help and gave a referral should I need one. My wife and I had both retired and we had a range of pension arrangements and various financial investments and assets. We had managed these ourselves whilst in employment and now we needed proper financial advice and management to take us through retirement and to end of life. We had two children to whom we wished to provide some financial support as well.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

So far, absolutely. The plan is working as we imagined. We have some capital secured for three years that we know will not decrease, inflation excepted which is understood. The remainder is in sensible investments.

He put together a full financial plan that provided short, medium, and long-term objectives. It was fully aligned to our lifestyle choices and approach to risk. The pensions and investments were harmonised and tax advantages realised. We felt it perfectly matched our objectives and that Roger understood us as people and also, we felt respected. The plan gave us the security we needed whilst recognising nothing is certain, especially where money is concerned.

Finding the right financial adviser is no easy task. With seemingly so many to choose from, there is a great deal at stake if you make a poor choice. Following my discovery of TPO on the internet, I found my initial discussion with Roger nothing other than wholly reassuring. He is completly open and transparent about fees, services that can be offered etc without any sense of obligation. I will shortly be entering the early discovery phase of the process and I can't imagine finding anymore more capable or amiable than Roger to do this with.

This was an initial meeting and after gaining an understanding of the context of my approach to TPO he was able to indicate how and where he may be able to assist, and also importantly those areas where it is unlikely that TPO would be able to advise. Roger was clear in advising of the sequence of the next steps and I look forward to meeting him and his colleague in a few weeks time.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I lacked confidence in my previous financial adviser. I was introduced to Roger Clarke some 15 years ago by my accountant. I found him very personable, easy to understand with clear advice.

How has Roger Clarke helped you?

Shortly before my retirement, he advised me on my various pensions and how I could obtain the best longterm benefits. He has continued to provide that advice, ensuring that my pensions maintain/increase in value for my future benefit. He has done the same for my ISA long term investments.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It would be unrealistic to expect my financial adviser to take my small pot of money and make a fortune out of it!! I have seen steady growth in the value of my pension pot, whilst at the same time having a regular drawdown of pension payments. Similarly I have seen a steady growth in my ISA investments. As a result of his advice, returns have well exceeded inflation. I am not willing to take the huge risks in the hope of spectacular rewards (or maybe losses)!

What could they have done better?

I meet Roger on a regular basis, when he keeps me informed or suggests changes. For my relatively small "pot" I feel I receive a very good personal service. He has recently suggested some major changes, requiring much additional work as a result of which Roger and his PA have given me a lot of attention. I will hopefully see the benefits in the fullness of time.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

On his retirement about 30years ago my husband was looking for professional advice on our financial arrangements. He met Roger through Bowerings who used to write a financial feature for the Forces Pension Society magazine. Following the death of my husband I contacted Roger who immediately offered to visit me personally and to help me with my finances at a very difficult time.

How has Roger Clarke helped you?

He advised me on how best to invest longer term, as well as how to maximise my current income (I had a teenage daughter) while at the same time minimising risk.

In the 1990's I needed to rationalise and consolidate my pension arrangements so that I could understand them , in the first instance, and secondly to provide a better basis for growth.

How has Roger Clarke helped you?

Roger was very successful in achieving both the aims mentioned above

I must say that I think this is a rather stupid question. Everybody would like to double the value of their pension fund every two years for example but it is not going to happen. The outcome from my point of view is that under Roger's ministrations my pension fund has been expertly looked after and performed considerably better than I ever thought it would do.

What could they have done better?

I think it would be hard to find anybody to have done much better over the past twenty odd years. Roger and I know each other pretty well and the business and personal relationship is excellent.

For the investment of my private pension SIPP and ISAs.

How has Roger Clarke helped you?

He provided advice on investing the funds in my SIPP before crystallisation and after (following retirement earlier this year) and for ISAs for my wife and me. He also arranged to make the investments and for them to be held on a suitable platform.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, although of course investment conditions have been challenging in recent times.

I currently have no complaints about how my investments are held although there have been recent losses which will hopefully see a recovery going forward.
