Knowing what my goals for retirement are, Angela has provided sound advice since she took over my pension planning some years ago. Through the financial troubles in recent years to now, I have depended on Angela to advise on the investments I need to make. She has always been available to discuss matters, and provides a personal touch. I trust Angela, and I feel safe in her hands.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed to have a look at 4-5 existing pensions, which I had over the years from different providers and accumulate them all into one, then invest them to give me a better return. My retirement outlook was not looking good, but with Angela's excellent service, help and guidance, a way forward was created, which has given me hope for my future retirement funds. I needed a retirement pension plan to keep myself in a comfortable lifestyle, Angela is constantly in contact with me, giving me any new updates, reassuring me every step of the way.

I never had a solid retirement plan with clear steps as I do now. Angela has had my best interests as her priority.

I will let you know in 5-10 years, but I have confidence that my pension will look much better than it does now!

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I recently started my own business and realised that I wasn't paying into a company pension scheme. In the past this is something that the company I was working for would arrange on my behalf, so I had no idea how to set one up, or even what to look for. Luckily I found Angela's information on a contractors website that I am a member of and decided to get in touch!

How has Angela James helped you?

Angela has helped me understand what happens behind the scenes of a pension, how my money is invested, and the possible returns I could get from my investment. She was very good at explaining how everything works from the business point of view, and reassuring me that I was in control of my investment and that I could easily pause, decrease or even increase my payments month to month.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

I have only just started to invest in the new pension scheme, but I am positive it will allow me to retire with a could amount of money!

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything, Angela always kept me informed of how things were progressing and she was very accommodating when it came to arranging meetings around my work commitments.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed to ensure that some past pension contributions had been done correctly, and that future contributions were also done in the correct and most efficient way.

How has Angela James helped you?

Angela has been very responsive, dedicating time to investigate our somehow complex financial circumstances to ensure every angle was covered, and explains things in a way that is easy to understand to enable taking the best decisions.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

So far yes, the initial outcome was to ensure that things were done in the right way and this was achieved, including switching one pension pot from a bad provider to a better one, but keeping another pension pot where it was. Obviously, time will tell if everything was as good as possible (based on the financial outcome)

I "needed" a pension to keep myself in the lifestyle to which I have become accustomed when I stop working. I had been meaning to do it for years, but never got round to it.

Prior to speaking to Angela I was a complete novice in this area and very reluctant to invest my money, particularly large sums, because of my lack of understanding. Angela broke everything down so that it was simple and easy to understand and made me comfortable and confident to make the difficult first steps.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I had decided to simplify my pension situation having several plans with different providers some on pause and one active with an employer. Also my work situation shifted from permanent to freelance so I wanted to assign 1 personal pension to make regular payments into. I hadn’t really payed much attention to the funds I had selected and wanted a review of these and my risk assessement. Also to manage my pension planning for the future with my Partner so we were aligned on our goals and retirement plan.

As a contractor i needed to make sure i was putting enough away for my retirement in the most tax efficant way. I found Angela through the contractor financials website, where she came highly recomended as a leading authority and subject matter expert.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

It had been on my mind for YEARS. Self-employed and not a big fan of paying any more living expenses for Liz and her henchmen than absolutely necessary. I was against pensions because I have seen 2 recessions and felt that when the time came to get my money back, if it was during a crash, there'd be nothing left. The risk is still there - but managed well - I will be OK.

How has Angela James helped you?

Given me a clear understanding of what I need to retire to keep myself in the lifestyle to which I have become accustomed through hard work. Taken away all of the fear about managing my own pension (who has time?) Helped me understand my attitude to risk and planned everything accordingly. Could not have asked for a better adviser.

My husband didn't have a pension and I had a very old out-of-date one; approaching 50, we were very worried that we hadn't made enough plans for the future (retirement).

Angela spent a lot of time over the phone initially and then via a video call discussing our situation, income, financial planning and desired retirement plans. I found her to be knowledgeable, professional yet friendly, very easy to talk to and put us at ease, with an attention to detail. I was concerned about not having a pension in place and wanted to get this arranged soon as possible.

I turned 30 and wanted to start thinking about putting a pension in place to help with my retirement. I was specifically looking for someone that could help me look into a private pension, as I am self-employed. I did a lot of research online, but felt like I was getting nowhere, so I decided to ask a professional.

How has Angela James helped you?

Angela from the get go was brilliant to deal with. She was very open, friendly and transparent, I really warmed to her approach which made me feel really at ease. Before talking to Angela I was really confused about what to do with my pension, as I had only been paying a little bit in from my PAYE contracts. She talked me through my options and at every stage was very clear about the commitments and risks that I had to make, I never felt pressured into making any decisions. I now have a private pension set up and in addition to this I set up an income protection plan. This is not something I had previously thought about, but i'm really glad she made me aware of this, as it is something that I definitely should have been considering as a self-employed person with little to no protection if I was to be out of work. Angela was very available and communicative throughout the whole process, I feel so much more at ease about my finances now thanks to her. I would highly recommend her to someone my age who is also self-employed.

I am a young first time buyer, saving to purchase a house. Before my advice I was simply putting away my money in a standard savings account earning little interest or benefits. I wanted to make sure I was getting the best value I can from my savings so headed to Angela to talk to her about how I could better use my money to help me get to my first house.

I had been contracting for 4 years and I had not thought about setting up a pension. Additionally I had a number if separate pensions from when I was an FTE which I needed to consolidate onto one platform. Added complexity was that I also had an investment that I needed advice on from when I worked in Zurich.

Angela has been giving me financial planning and pensions advice for the past year. I had never really planned for retirement or indeed ever focused on getting my financial affairs in order as I always had more exciting things to do.
