What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I wanted to ensure that I had adequate financial security when I retired. I was looking for financial advisers for work (I'm an HR Manager) and Chris was one of the people I spoke with. He was able to explain details at a level I understood, with no pomposity or demeaning attitude which I had come across previously. When I left that company, I continued with Chris as a personal client of his. That was 10-15 years ago! He is certainly someone I would recommend.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

He helped to define what my pension would look like when I retire. So based on my lifestyle and desires for the future then provided guidance on what I should be paying as a minimum. He was also able to suggest a better area for me to invest my pension pot based on my risk averse level. Also provided advice, support and guidance when I needed to drawdown some of my pension when my late hubby had a stroke, so that we could install a safer bathroom and stairlift.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Not retired yet and I hope that the levels on the stock markets recover for everyone following the Covid 19 pandemic.

What could they have done better?

For me he has been really supportive and given appropriate guidance for my requirements.

What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

I needed to arrange my finances under an umbrella that would be clear and concise. My finances were held in a number of funds and portfolios and it was extremely difficult to get a clear picture of what was going on.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

Chris helped me gather all of this information and advised me how to improve my returns, gave me a number of strategies on how to get better returns on investments and how to manage my pension and mortgage affairs. His advice has been very valuable.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Essentially we has setup a strategy for the next 5 - 8 years and I think we were on plan. I trust his judgement because I have worked on both the buy and sell side of the financial industry and we speak the same language. I have been impressed with the depth of his knowledge and his straightforward approach. As I say I think we were on track. The Covid 19 pandemic has put a wrench into everyone’s financial planning at the moment. I believe Chris has sound judgement and is a safe pair of hands. Our plan was for a specified period and was showing good value. It is too early in the plan to assess outcomes especially in the event of the current pandemic.

What could they have done better?

At the end of the day the value is all in the results. I like Chris. I trust him. We had a long term plan which I aim to see out. I find his advice to be sound and I see no reason for criticism at this stage. However I would like to discuss ESG funds with him and whether that will now form the basis of something we could add to the investments in light of the pandemic. I’d just like to know whether he would consider that to be a viable option in the light of what we have set out to achieve.

We wanted to plan for our future and have a specific goal for retirement, but had no idea how to put this into action and who we could trust to help us.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

Chris met us on numerous occasions, firstly he wanted to get to know us and understand our plans and personal goals. He went through all our finances in depth, and informed us of different options to consider, these were explained in a clear and concise way that we understood, and he knew exactly how we felt towards risk versus rewards. We had numerous pensions with companies and savings that weren't being utilised effectively, so Chris consolidated all our pension plans, and we now have investments and life insurance policies, plus a will and power of attorney, none of this could have been done without his involvement and guidance.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Absolutely, in fact the results we have seen so far have exceeded our expectations, we now have a plan for our retirement, and with regular reviews and online portal access we can monitor our portfolio with ease.

What could they have done better?

You feel compelled to make a suggestion in this section, but we do not have any.

We wanted to get a handle on our finances and ensure that we were saving enough for retirement.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

Chris undertook a cashflow analysis of our income, expenditure, savings and pensions which has helped us to see where we stand. More importantly, Chris identified and explained options for our retirement which we wouldn't have known about. Each time we 'check-in' with Chris to discuss our finances and whether we're on track to achieve our goals, he always has suggestions for different ways of doing things. Most importantly, we feel confident about our finances and our spending.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We got the outcome we were hoping for - and more. We were resigned to the fact that we'd probably be working well into our sixties, and whilst we're a long way from retiring just yet, we're relieved to know that there are alternative options available to us.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

He helped me review my current situation, consider my timelines for planning for the mid-term and longer term future. Due to a serious, life limiting medical prognosis, I wished to ensure that my wife (and children) would benefit as much as possible from my pension arrangements.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

Chris and his team walked my wife and I through the current company pension scheme options and then undertook a very detailed analysis of transfer options, benefits/risks and then provided us with a detailed and independently checked report which were we able to discuss and question with no pressure what so ever.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

We only made our decision fairly recently, but are about to receive our first payment from our investment provider in April 2020. Chris has always been in close contact with us to smooth any hurdles and provide sound advice.

I've always had a financial advisor but when I moved to a different part of the country, I needed someone more local

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

In particular, I value a) Chris's advice re planning financially for an anticipated long life expectancy (genetically it's likely I'll reach 100 years of age), and b) when financial circumstances changed at the same time that an old mortgage was due for renewal, he told us about products which were available and which expired at 70 years of age. This will give us a bit of wiggle room before possible inheritances kick in to assist with paying off the amount we owe on the house

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes, up until the economic impact of Covid 19, we were on track in a modest, stable way, which is the risk level we chose for our investment portfolio

Explained all the recent developments in pension planning. Reviewed the +/- of sticking with previous company pension scheme compared with the +/- of changing to other alternatives such as a wrap. Helped me to make the transfer over the and made the process easy.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes. I am now in a pension that benefits my wife and sons more if I die, and I feel has the potential to grow more than what I had previously. Although there has been a significant drop in value due to CV19, Chris was able to assure me of the long-term nature of the market and the potential trends over the next few years.

What could they have done better?

Although I am clear that the advice Chris gives me is top-notch, and I understand, I am never that clear on the annual costs of the advice. Probably more my fault for not looking at the detail, but would be good to be updated.

I wanted to put funds away for later in life and I met Chris many years ago through an adviser who was moving away.

I did at one stage have insurance through him, Isa's and finally my pension-my pension could have been problematic as I hold a US passport, I was limited on who with deal with me, Chris got this sorted.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

Yes I have and the outcome has been better than I had hoped for.

What could they have done better?

I do wish with the Covid19, my funds could just be put on hold somewhere safe. I am at an age now that I no longer work and do not wish to, but I would like to know my funds are safe!

I moved to a new job - and when I was signing up for a new group pension, I realised I had a few and had no idea how much was in each and thought it would be a good idea to consolidate them in one place - I asked Chris for help as to what the best option for me was.

He has looked at all my pensions, told me how much is in each one and now I am in the process of transferring them into one policy for a simpler life.

How has Christopher Masters helped you?

I have known Chris Masters for over 10 years and he has been involved in our financial management for this period. Initially this was via Millfield where he was a consultant but subsequently in his own IFA practice. My experience has been most positive and matches my needs pretty comprehensively and effectively. I appreciate the ideal relationship we have struck which is, on the one hand, very professional, but on the other quite personal Chris is extremely well versed in the technical requirements for his support and is a prodigious reader of books on relevant matters (Pension rules and legislation, investment strategies, IHT planning, and over all money management.) He is extremely hard working and conscientious His advice whilst cautious and probably on the conservative side (which is good) is not restrictive Above all he has effectively pursued our financial goals on our behalf and over this period has delivered pretty well on all agreed targets, which at the end of the days is the real 'acid test'

What could they have done better?

only fine tuning Danger of taking on too much including expansion in such a way that will significantly change the relationship with clients. Could do better responding to communications. Having said this he is extending his support to address such matters

He is also a consummate professional with a high level of integrity. He explains difficult information in a way you can understand. I have known Chris professionally for pensions and financial advice within my role as HR Business partner. I was so impressed that I have taken his advice on financial matters on a personal level too. His quiet matter of fact professionalism and knowledgeable demeanour won over some stiff opposition from some of the employees who felt they didn't need to receive financial advice on their pensions. I was recommended to transfer to Chris Masters having been what can only be described as 'taken for a ride' from a well know London based company. My confidence and mistrust was rock bottom. Chis has from the very first day given me excellent and very common sense advice and whose judgment and knowledge I now hold in high regard. He has always been there to answer questions and always returns emails promptly. We meet annually which proves to be very beneficial.

What could they have done better?

There is very little I can criticise because Chris has always responded promptly and with the appropriate advise. When last year I did have concerns about new financial charges and structures that were to be rolled out Chris made adjustments to suit my concerns and for that I am most appreciative.
