What were the circumstances that caused you to initially look for an adviser?

Reaching the age of 60 and having to make decisions relating to my pension and my wife’s pension. Our previous adviser was unable to take on any additional work and recommended Trey Vella.

How has Trey Vella helped you?

Following several meetings Trey has helped transfer my pension to a new provider, to enable me to start the drawdown process. He has also drawn up a retirement plan for my wife and I, which we have just started to implement.

I had a pension fund that was misappropriated and HLS put it back on a legal basis with the IR and advised on future action resulting in a secure retirement. The strategy is reviewed annually or at any time I need to communicate. Excellent personal service.

I had several pension pots spread over different providers and wanted to consolidate these into a single pension/SIPP. I also needed a complete review of my pensions and financial situation as I was looking to take early retirement and needed to understand my options.

I provided Trey with the details of all my various pension pots and he went away and gathered all the information required to allow him to review them fully. He also completed a Lifestyle Financial plan for me and together with the results of this financial plan and the pension details earlier gathered was able to recommend the best way to consolidate the pots and how they could fund my retirement in order to meet the objectives of my Lifestyle Financial plan.

We have a range of other services being managed by Harper Lees. The relationships built in those pervious services and interactions gave us confidence to ask Harper Lees to manage our inheritance and financial planning.

How has Trey Vella helped you?

Trey has been excellent in his dealings with us. He is well prepared ahead of our meetings, listens to our ideas, cautions and concerns, and communicates clearly verbally and in follow up correspondence. We have found him attentive to our plans and diligent in his dealings with us. As a couple with slightly different outlooks on exposure to risk, Trey has been able to strike a balance between needs and aspirations that has been clearly communicated, explaining the various options we have available to us for medium and one term investment.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

At this stage, we are still planning the finer details of investments, but based on other services in our portfolio, we believe we are planning a future that enables and allows us to feel confident about our wealth management, liberated from the worry about doing 'the right things'. Trey has been able to highlight scenarios where particular decisions could project differing outcomes and in so doing, he generated a level of confidence and assuredness in us to make firm decisions based on the best, most up-to-date evidence.

What could they have done better?

I can't think of anything at this stage that would have made the process better. Trey has taken time to take us through the financial planning process so we never felt rushed or out of our depth. I'd be very happy to recommend Trey based on the experience that we have had.
