Previous one not taking a good overall view and I needed someone who knew how to deal with a defined benefits transfer.

Moved defined benefits pension and consolidated. He has worked with me to increase my understanding of pensions, listens to my concerns and answers my question...and there have been many! This helps to reduce concerns/anxiety and give peace of mind.

In part, the market and global events are making it a challenge but understand that it is a long game. The objective of moving my defined benfits pension went very well, as did the move of my pesnion from previous adviser.
What could they have done better?
As an organisation AAB should consider 6 to 9 monthly and not annual reviews. The fees are considerable and I don't think this an unreasonable request. That said Martyn is happy to answer specific question between formal reviews.

More recently I needed to set up bank accounts for three family trusts, which involved an unbelievable number of forms, some of which had to be submitted several times. I am nearing the point when I wish to retire. I had various pension pots which had built-up, and I wanted to get advice from a financial adviser as to the best way to fund my retirement. As a single person, I did not find the idea of an annuity from my pension pot providers particularly attractive (should I die within a short period of years).
How has Martyn Paterson helped you?
Martyn discussed my full financial position taking account of my existing bank balance and the value of my share portfolios. He agreed that taking an annuity was not the best option for me. He outlined clearly and concisely what his company would advise me to do to protect and grow my pension fund.
Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?
The pension fund was set up geared to be on a relatively low risk basis (Standard Life product). The first full year saw a reasonable return after deduction of fees. Like everyone else, I have been affected by the impact of Covid-19 on share values during the current year.
What could they have done better?
I have not had much experience of financial advisers and therefore it is difficult for me to make a comparison. Martyn readily answered any questions I had to my satisfaction. I do feel that given the financial and personal information I provided, he came up with the best financial solution for my circumstances.
